Bought this car in November, but it lacked the security code for the Infinity radio. Have to pull the radio to get the model and serial number so I can query Mitsubishi for the code. Have removed the console's side panels and the plastic HVAC & radio surround piece, but not the console top itself (yet). Removed three phillips-head screws on each side of the unit, but the radio won't budge when I attempt to pull it straight out. Are there fasteners behind the radio that are keeping me from pulling it forward? My previous Spyder had an aftermarket radio (which I removed & replaced w/ a touchscreen unit), so I'm familiar w/ getting into the console, but I'm stumped that the radio won't pull out after removing all the screws that I can see. Any help would be appreciated.

6? There are 4? There are none behind the OEM stereo. So odd that there are 6. It's been a while, I'm looking at the Crutchfield disassembly and it shows 4. I still use the OEM metal bracket and it has 4.
Wait... what do you mean sides of the unit and not the front?
How about an image.

The screws that I removed were on the sides of the radio, three each side. Yeah, the previous radios that I've worked-on each had only two per side holding the unit in place (three seems to be overkill). There were no screws at the front of the unit other than the two holding-down the tabs of the console top. Thanks for the tip about Crutchfield, Evoir, I just checked out their website, but the Infinity unit they show in the pictures is a single-Din, and my stock radio is the larger double-Din. $9.98 to get their instructions and 2-day delivery? No ability to download? Have to think about that. I'd post an image of the side of the radio, but the screws are already removed.

Hmm, found a tutorial online. Follows what I remember from working on my previous Spyder. https://www.carstereoremoval.com/htm/stereoremovalMitsubishiEclipse95_99P.htm

Won't be working on the car today, weather is supposed to hit the mid-sixties here. Will be making a 3-hour (total) drive to visit the grave of my late wife. An excuse to enjoy the rare chance for top-down driving in SW Ohio in mid-February. Might hit the Air Force Museum in Fairborn, Ohio.

I was looking at the old Crutchfield to see if there were any radio variations. But it shows same, as that YouTube. Remove center console and shifter and 4 screws. Pull unit out. Maybe owner tried to add security. My Kenwood has a provision for a rear screw.

The four screws are shown as accessed from the front? The six screws I removed were on the SIDES, 90 degrees off the shown orientation. I see the problem. The four screws shown, if removed, allow the radio AND the two mounting brackets to be removed as a unit. The six screws were what was holding the radio sandwiched between the brackets. I just pushed on the radio from behind and it moved slightly on the right side. So there is enough friction (maybe rust?) between the brackets and the radio to keep it from sliding free. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and remove the console top to get at those four screws. Like I said, all of my previous R&R's of radios in my previous Spyder were done by removing the side screws holding the radios between the brackets, leaving the brackets in place.

Thanks for the diagrams, Evoir, they explained the screw orientation and why I removed six and not four. Too late to pull the console tonight, I'll try tomorrow.

If it's the original radio, you should just be able to ask the dealer to run a Superscreen in Mitsubishi DealerLink with your VIN #. The radio code will be shown in there.

The ONLY remaining Mitsubishi dealer in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area is on the north side of Cincinnati, a 45 minute drive from where I live near the Cincy/NKY airport (CVG) in Kentucky. I've sent a query to the dealer to see if they can access the code for me. Would be nice if they can help.

Only response from dealer was to ask if I was in the market to buy a vehicle. No help regarding the radio.
