Just thought I would post this note to let you know about this car show at the Denton Dragway taking place on November 17th. They recently added an "Import" class to the list, in anticipation of a decent turnout from import enthusiasts. I'll be there showing my WRX. Hope to see some of you there, too!

Denton Dragway Car Show, Sunday, November 17th

Denton Dragway, in conjunction with TorqueCentral.com, is hosting a Street Legal Car Show as part of the events in the Texas Street Legal Championships. Awards will be given to first and second place in each class.

Steve Pasztor, AKA Zaino Steve has generously offered to sponsor the event, and will be on hand with detail tips and, as always, a healthy supply of Zaino!

The show will be judged rather uniquely. An official from Denton Dragway, one from TorqueCentral and the Sponsor, Steve Pasztor will judge the show, and their rankings will account for 50% of the score. The remaining score will be determined by participant judging.

Racing will be great to watch, and events are running all day long.

Gates open at 10:00AM
Registration begins at 10:00AM and runs through 2:00PM.
Judging will be at 2:30PM
Awards around 4:00PM

The entry fee is $10, and includes ONE GREAT RACE SHOW! So bring that beautiful machine out, even if you’re not planning on racing, and show it off! You might just go home with a trophy and some braggin’ rights!

CLASSES:

Best In Show
Best Interior
Best Paint
Best Engineering/Custom
Best F-body
Best Mustang
Best Sport Compact
Best Classic Muscle
Best Sports Car
Best Import (new!)

We are also running a Sport Compact and a Bracket race Eliminator. So you guys that want to race, we have some classes for you. The winners of each class will get $200 gift certificate and the Runner-Ups will get a $100 gift certificate, the Semis will get $50 gift certificates, and the 1/4s get a trophy. Denton DRagway is putting up the gift certificates in the Sport Compact Class, and the Horsepower Store is sponsoring the Bracket Race.

Also, we are paying the Internet car club that brings the most members $250. So come out in full force and take home some money for your club.

You can get all the info at www.dentondragway.com

This may be the last opportunity this year to get together at a track in North Texas where there are a bunch of different events taking place the same day. Hope to see you there, whether it's on the track, in the car show, or just to mix 'n mingle with everybody!

Cheers, GoodFinder :)

Hope to see a lot of imports show up at Denton Dragway on Sunday the 17th!

Scott Jamison (President of TorqueCentral.com) says customization, how "stock" any customization looks, and cleanliness are the keys when he judges. And, that good paint, well integrated modifications, etc are his qualifiers. With Scott, Steve (Zaino Distributor) and a track representative judging the cars, their scores will account for 50% of the total judging score. The rest of the score is determined by participant judging. They hope to get the best of both worlds by doing the judging that way. Scott says the trophies are 11" and 12" tall for 2nd and 1st place. Black/gray marble look, with gold car on top, engraved. They are nice. Not overly flashy, but nice.

Hopefully the weather will be good, too. I've got the day reserved on my calendar to go up there and show the WRX and have a fun get together. Who else here is gonna be there too?

My wife and I went to the Denton Dragway yesterday afternoon to make sure we know how to get there. (Well, it was a good excuse to take a Sunday afternoon drive, too!) The directions on the web are spot on:

Northbound from Dallas / Fort Worth N I-35 to Denton, 4 miles North of Denton to Exit 473 (Milam Road / Love's Truck Stop) Exit and stay on North bound service road about 1 mile the service road U-turns back underneath the interstate. Turn right at the first road (Memory Lane) and the Dragway is on the Right. Denton Dragway, 3236 Memory Lane, Track Phone (940) 482-6989.

However, one caveat, especially for those entering the car show, is that you'll have to drive down a dusty caliche road before you get to the parking lot and such. Therefore, you'll want to be sure to bring some "final detailing" items accordingly, for those who will be entering their car in the show.

Cheers, GoodFinder :)

Hope to see you there.

On a somewhat related note, if you are interested in helping out with a D/FW Import Cruise for Charity, please send me an email to [email protected] and we can discuss the concept further.

Or, if you're at the Denton Dragway this Sunday, just be sure to stop by the WRX and say hello!

Regards,

GoodFinder :)
