A 93 has 2 plug ends and a 92 has 3. I have a 93 at/awd non-eprom TCU in my car..I bought a 92 at/awd eprom TCU and had it socketed..Guess what, the plugs on the harness are different..My tuner believes he can re-program my TCU..If you have a 93 eprom TCU, I'll trade you for a socketed 92 TCU...

From what I've read, there was a harness change in 92 and you could have a 3 plug TCU or a 2 plug TCU.. This is my 93, 2 plug non-eprom TCU..I'm showing this to show the difference between the 2 plug and three plug, and the eprom and non-eprom TCU

This is some more info, it might be useless..I found a July build, 92 e-prom, two plug TCU today..It came out of a FWD non-turbo car..The serial # is only one digit off from my 93 non-eprom AWD TCU..I tried it in my 93 and it works..The 2-3 shift is about 2500 and 3500 under normal accelleration...My 93 awd tcu shifts at 5000 and 4200 on the 2-3 under normal accelleration..Huge difference..Don't know if its good or bad..I took it back out without a WOT pull, the difference worried me...I'm going to get it socketed and go see my tuner...I'll keep you posted..

Sounds like the Power/Econ mode was reversed if you had your Power button pushed in.

I need some help to go on with this..I need the color code for the 10 pin connector. This is the 3 plug at/AWD harness..I have
OPEN
orange
OPEN
blue/black stripe
black

blue
yellow/bluestripe
OPEN
blue/black stripe
black

If I could get all 32, it would be golden..What I have works but has a wire in the wrong hole somewhere on this plug..With the car off, I plug this tcu in, and when I get to this 10 pin plug, 3 things happen upon plugging it in.There is a click around the console, there is a click under the hood, the overhead AT/temp light comes lights up...

Got a chance to meet up with Tracy (GDNF2ET) today and test some more things. Results were shifts at whatever RPM we chose, commanded by the TCU while leaving it in drive, by altering the TCU code. We tried playing with some external hardware modifications but in the end I was able to make the trans shift with full line pressure whenever I wanted through the TCU code and no external modification was really needed. I made him 2 shift maps that are switchabe via the power/eco switch. He is now enjoying a drive home with full line pressure at WOT, normal pressure in cruise, and WOT automatic shifts at 7500 RPM all via TCU code modification!

The very cool preceding TCU Part number list skips the first year of the 1G DSM's. To help fill in this data here is the TCU number off of my 1990 1.8 laser

MD731302 90 FWD 1.8

This Computer is listed as compatable with:

2000 GTX 89 Transmission; (below console)
2000 GTX 90 Transmission; (below console), SOHC, thru 11/30/89
ECLIPSE 90 Transmission; (center dash), FWD, 1.8L
GALANT 89 Transmission; (center dash)
GALANT 90 Transmission; (center dash), SOHC, thru 11/30/89
LASER 90 Transmission; (center dash), 1.8L

Hope this helps someone.
