Thought I did when I first got the car, but didn't.
Haven't had so far....and there is a guy locally that is saying he has a fix and is willing to give a warranty on it....
How do I edit my post? I want to change it from "a stock 7 bolt" to just "a 7 bolt"
100k miles with mods since day one and at least 60k of those was between 300awhp and 400awhp. Just now going to a 6 bolt only cuz im building a stroker motor and i have a spare engine from my old crashed 90gsx. Crank walk is overrated. also i may mention i had a 2600lb clutch for about 70kmiles too. This motor will be for sale all stock including arp head studs and 4layer gasket real soon with almost everything for a complete install it has a mild port and polished head new valve seals 3angle valve job new valve springs. new timing belt new water pump new balance belt, balance tensioner pulley, timing tensioner pulleys and auto tensioner
right before i left for iraq, i am afraid my baby suffered crankwalk. (97 Gst with about 80,000 miles and a few bolt ons)

i won't be sure till i get home for RNR in December and get a chance to check it out, but i can't think of anything else that would make my crank pulley be like an inch too far toward the drivers side of the car...which made all my belts come off by the way...

to the guy that said crankwalk is over-rated: i think the 7 bolt is fine, UNLESS you are one of the unlucky ones that got one of the poorly manufactured cranks. and sadly you probably won't know until it is too late. if I had it to do over again, i would get my internal engine parts sooner. Too late now i am afraid...

I have owned 2 nd gen gsxs, a 95 with over 135,000 miles and my current car had over 140k with no problems :) one of these days I will actually stick a feeler guage in ans check the clearances! The only reason I changed to a six bolt was I got a killer deal on a stroker setup last year :) I never baby my toys either!!!
I bought my tsi with 110k miles without it, 200 miles later it is walking. Fuck mitsubishi
sounds like the person who sold u the car knew it was walking when they sold it
i walked 2 months after i bought the car, walked at 150,001 miles on the odometer.....

Ahh i only paid 1,500 for it though.
I have owned a '97 and a '99 GSX. Neither one ever had crankwalk. My brother had a '97 that did though.

Take care,

David

Hey guys my name is Jorge, i own a 91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD.I just wanted to tell you guys about my friend jack, who found out how to fix crankwalk in dsm's. Seriouly no more crankwalk for u guys with 2nd gens. He has a shop here in Colorado Springs, Colorado, called Inovated Automotive Technology. He does everything to dsm's imagenable mostly tranny work and performance engine building though. He was building custom exhaust but recently stopped doing so. If any of you have crankwalk problems or anything like that you might want to contact him to fix it for you i don't know the price for the miracle fix right now but its definantly worth it. You can reach him at 719-243-5305. oh yeah by the way im almost 100% sure hes the only one that knows how to permanently fix crankwalk right now in the dsm community. Right now most other people don't even really know what causes it. If you would also help spread the word i would appreciate that. Thanks, Jorge.

Can you please give us all a idea as to what he does that none of the other shops involved with dsms have been able to discover and perform them selfs.
my 95 eagle talon got crankwalk after 400miles after a rebuild

Did you use the same crank?
Me and a buddy of mine have researched and came up with the solution a long time ago. We are still waiting on having miles on the motors to see if the fix is perminent. We have posted this up on NABR and on other boards.

We have come to find out that none of the 7 bolt crankshafts were nitrided from the factory like the 6 bolt cranks. If you were to do a file test in comparison to the 2, you would tell the difference in hardness of the cranks immediately.

Now, if you have your 7 bolt crank nitrided correctly, just like the 6 bolts were, that should fix all the crankwalk issues.

There is no real world proof if its going to work, but this is the only thing that is different from the crankshafts themselves. Just get 1 6 bolt and 1 7 bolt crank and do the test yourself. You will be amazed at what you see and feel between the 2 crankshafts.
i don't know what it is that he does to them but he does his thing he has never had a motor crankwalk on him after the fix, and bout the hardening of the cranks i don't belive thats the case jack's procudures don't involve hardening of the cranks, I know that for sure.i'f you guys would like to find out more just give him a call.
