What is the best tool for cutting a carbon fiber hood, without damaging it or the gelcoat? What are some of the methods you guys have tried?

I used the cut off wheel from a dremel for an interior piece. It worked better than I expected. The wheel helped keep it cutting very strait. The only downside is the wheels don't last very long. Chipping wasn't a problem (it was at full speed 35k rpm). You can also line the surface with masking tape, I think that'll help keep a smoother edge too. Once its cut, it'll be a sharp edge though.

i made a complete CF dash kit out of an old hood for my 1G and it worked out fine. I used a Mataba for the large pieces, a dremel for the small ones, and a grinder for finishing.
