To start out, I always get them when I'm not looking... :rolleyes:
Main drag thru town... white laser at a trot in the right lane, me in the left...
He starts to slow, :p
I pass some shit pile Honda on the way up next to him.
I know this 1g. He's a defector from the Honda crowd.
When he first got it he had a trunk full of goodies the first week "to be installed".
Its 6 months later and I imagine things have come to fruition.
Lets find out shall we... ;)
Right as I start to match speed and find the high side of 2nd... :mad:
He jumps on it. Being awd... he still fires ahead like hell.
I punch it. Grab him, and full boost announces itself by bursting the front tires into a loud spin... at 50mph. I frantically try and find third before I bury it in the red. The clutch shudders then obeys, as I grab third and leave him standing still. Sorry son... not today... tomorrows not looking good either...
;) Still losing 2psi... somewhere...
The next light I get the "hey did you know it was me?" I say yeah...
He says wow... thats nice... and holy fuck.
I tell him yeah... I know. :D
And explain its not going to happen any other way, ANY time soon.

In a good mood and continuing my journey to grab a movie and venture across the bridge... I spot a orange muscle car up ahead. A few weaves and some jockeying lands me behind him at a light. No badging... well, some, but I can't make it out against the custom paint. Hmm... this is going to be a gamble, muscle cars are not my specialty. The gravely hum of old school v-8 snorting thru dual pipes bounces off the cars around me. This... might be a buzz kill... :rolleyes: He plays it cool in traffic and ends up with a car between us when we merge... Come the fuck on old dude... I just want to have a "go"... Not trying to complicate your mid-life crisis... much. :D
We get to the bridge. Its a 30% downgrade at the light, sharp up and left hander then a straight 2 lane 1/4. I'm behind fuzzy nuts at the light wondering if he's ever going to find the right pedal. He's not one to dissappoint. He's coy from the light but gets a brass pair powering thru the turn. :eek: I nail it, torque steer the turn and go to pursuit mode. Which looks mean enough to stop traffic... The Talon a spinning bov dumping rocket headed after him. Its an uphill bridge so I stay in 2nd and 3rd as long as possible. Top of 3rd see's him at my bumper. Grab fourth like its my job. And I get to repeat myself... sorry dad. Not today. You had a 2 car headstart minimum, and I still spanked your silly old car. With a 4 banger... :p
What came next was a display normally reserved for suicidal 16 year olds...
A car in the right lane ahead of me saw me throwing the binders on and getting down to a crawl for the tore apart roads ahead. He stays on it. :rolleyes: Cuts into traffic ahead of me (almost causing a 6 car accident) Was that the rare and mysterious muscle car fly by? They do that? :confused: What a cock smoker! The car in front of me turns, I got dick lunch in front of me. He tries a little pull off from the next light (one laner + construction) I show him 1st up to about 2 feet then... WAAA PSSHHH! a not so gentle reminder. He tries to go again... 2nd... NICE and close... WAAAAPPPPSHSHHHH!!!! Now he'll never forget it. Bitch. :D
He turns at the next light. Like a fuckin' sucker. :D

Or what he had done. It ws NOT slow, but not fast enough. :D
He probably didn't know what a Talon was.
Even tho I'm leaking boost, on a cold cold night, the dense air evens out my normally rich condition enough to make the Talon run like a whipped whore. It FELT fast that night. And I'M used to it.

To my credit, I had no idea what I was up against. I just wanted a good race, found a clean v-8 that obviously got TLC, and gave it a shot. He also was around the bend before I got to it. And, had 4 more cylinders than me.
I didn't miss a gear, handled the power thru the turn, and settled the spin to a grab and go in under 1 second.

I had to post, my entertaining, but pointless escapades I enjoy very little compared to better these match ups. I'm getting better at driving my car, and I stay under it tri-weekly trying to keep it 100%. I need 2 couplers, a welder, and a day to make my new lower intercooler pipe. Then I'll fix up the Upper one. After that, no leaky. And I'll be 95% I did change out the tranny fluid, and switched to a 1g lower rad hose for more room, and new coolant in the proper mix. I found a leaking injector, and I still have to switch the turbo stud washers to cut locker ones. I guess having no balance shafts causes mine to spin out. Which makes my turbo fall off. Yeah. I'm not kidding. You can hear it. Its not cute.

I presume your fwd with spinning the front tires...i get the same problem. What are your mods? You sound pretty hefty for a chick =) I got a few good stories with muscle car owners..but for some reason when they hear an 02 dump they pay nomore attention.

Yep fwd for now. I think I may be getting a 99 AWD salvage. Which means the fwd is going RIGHT out the window. ASAP, I'm going to do the swap.
As it sits, 1g head, ported, 1mm o/s valves, deck, cleaning, best 1g cams, 1g intake manifold matchewd to head, 2g tb, 2g elbow, 1g bov, turbo xs mbc set around 17.5-20, custom uip, (its 2.5" at the fender) air filter and MAF adapter, no b/s, energy sus motor mounts, (& sway bar bushings) stock exhaust with a oval muffler, oh... 14b. 2g exhaust mani... short throw... <--- almost a requirement at this point... just to get to the next gear in time... :rolleyes: Mostly a stock parts mix match with a great head. Way better results than I'd have ever expected. It hauls ass, now it needs the AWD mod. :rolleyes:
Not bad considering the 2g bottom end has 160K and no smoke, or nothing.
Can't imagine it will last that long tho. Its ok, I'm going to start on my 2.4 real soon. ;)

When I was stuck driving the Galant, his little Honda hatch was the fastest thing on four wheels... well according to him and he always wanted to play with me. As far as the old dude in the muscle, who drives a DSM that DOESN'T want a piece of V-8? Isn't that the whole point? Until I can get a car with potential. :rolleyes: Like a v-8 right? :rolleyes: Show me one turbo DSM you can honestly say you got because it was a four banger with "good gas mileage" in a nice coupe body. My interior reeks of 94 octane, my windows rattle, I almost fall everytime I roll out of the car. It leaks oil, requires CONSTANT attention. Doesn't like the cold. You feel every nickel in the pavement. Gets about 50 miles to a QUARTER TANK... makes some cool noises... and parts can be expensive. The reward for the split knuckles and phantom CELs, is the potential. The potential to breathe twice as hard with one lung. Keep in mind, any 5.0L v-8 isn't just twice the cylinders... its 2.5 <-- times the displacement. I've already mentioned I DO NOT own a stupid fast dsm. But I'll get there. Arrogant prick? I'm just settling things... if you can't understand that. Feel free to change the channel. ;)

I guess I feel sorry for you. I bought my car not to make it nicer/faster/better than somenone elses in some way, but so I could have a car, spend my money on it, and make it the way I wanted, give me something to do, to be proud of when I'm done. To hell with what anyone else likes, this is for me. You seem to be infatuated with the idea "I beat you, I am better.", it's like you don't have anything else to stand on, and that is really lame. Talking down to people doesn't result in anything positive.
And don't brag too much about beating a muscle car. Granted, if it had custom paint it might've been hot under the hood, but most cars I've ever seen going to car shows have had stock heads and other non performance parts like points. So big deal. Find something tough, with a aluminum heads/big cam/lots of compression (you can hear it in the exhaust) or with a mouthy owner that needs to be taught, then you'll have bragging rights.

My 1G bottom end has 190k on it and it's pushing around 300whp right now. Bought it with 152k and I usually push it when I drive it at least once. You should be fine as long as you take care of her.
1.25" pipes was a mock reference to the stock outlets on the dual tip OEM turbo DSM muffler.
I build my cars and I DO everything myself. I TORE down the head, I ported, I cleaned, (I don't have a mill so ok, I let professionals cut it for 1mm o/s valves) Then I reassembled it. The block work, the wiring, the maintenence... all of it.
I do all my work;
Because I enjoy it.
Because it gives me a sense of accomplishment.
And because noone, NOONE, touches my fucking car.

I don't build my car to "beat" other cars.
I build it to enjoy it. I'm a car guy. I like playing and creating, and tweaking, and unwrapping parts and installing them the same day. OR making my own. WTF MAN? I ALSO TAKE PRIDE IN BEING THE UNDER DOG.
4 cyl VS bigger engines, muscle, ect. Its the DSM way. I'm not some 16 year old kid. I've bled to make that car run. I've wanted a 2g since I WAS 16. But I'm not a little rich kid, I didn't get a chance until NOW.
I also spend a considerable amount of time working on other cars. Usually for free or a beer. I give advice, sometimes parts... spend countless hours troubleshooting for people... AND BY GOD... You fucking douche bag... am entitled to enjoying a few decent races. I've paid my dues. PISS OFF! :mad:
