Ok, got another tough one.
When the engine is cold and I rev it above 1,500 rpms it makes a scratching sound. Sounds like metal scratching against metal. The sound seems to come from the valve area and matches engine rpm. However, it no longer makes that sound once I put the car into gear. So it must be a transmission problem right? But the noise isn't coming from the transmission, it's coming from below the valve cover.
