Ok, this is my situation. I have the lower screen on my MAF removed and I have idle surge. Three days ago, the rubber hose that runs from my BOV to my intake melted and broke so I'm having to vent to the atmosphere. I have the hole in the intake blocked off. As far as I can tell, venting to the atmosphere has cause a white cloud of smoke from the exhaust between 1st and 2nd shift. Just yesterday, my car started stumbling and missing in 1st gear past 4500rpms everytime and 2nd gear past 4500rpms when I'm not at WOT. Could the BOV dump be causing this? Thanks for any help.

Yes...

Also look for boost leaks and adjust the idle by the BISS a little bit. That will help you in there...

Im almost 100% sure that the BOV is causing your problem.
Try this. When it starts to stumble, got WOT and see if it stops. If it does then its the BOV. Just vent it back into the intake and it should be ok.

get a new hose, vent back to intake, basically thats 99.99% likely the problem, since it happened right after that broke =p (venting is a evil thing)
