ok i was going to buy a fuel pressure gauge but someone told me that if i want to mount it in the car it has to be an electrical guage. If i mount it outside then it can be mechanical is this true?

Its true. You could mount a mechanical gauge in the cockpit but you would have to be insane. If the line feeding the gauge broke inside your car it could be very dangerous. Its a pretty good idea if you are looking for a fp gauge get a electronic one and put it inside the car so you can keep an eye on it.
They make mechanical in cockpit fuel pressure gauges but like said above I think it is crazy to run one.
ok that sucks because it cost 200. So im going to buy a under the hood one because it is cheaper. So now i have to decide what gauge to put in my pillar. What do you think is most usefull, what do you think i should get. Im open to suggestions but im am strapped for cash, cuz i just bought a AFPR.

lol don't listen to them, no one knows what they are talking about. . just do it and then tell us what it feels like to have your flesh melt off of you like butter . . oh yeah and don't forget to video tape your car burning up like the
"SRgtiFIRE" video :D

THanks for the support :D . Ill make sure to have you on my list of people to haunt after im dead. :p
lol sorry about that. Its just one of those sick funny things that pop in your head :D
If money is tight why go looking for gauges to get. If you have a boost gauge that is the most important. Save your money until you *NEED* another gauge.
true. I was just thinking that.
On another note, because i dont want to start a new thread, what is normal reading for vacuum, because at idle i read about 28.
Yeah, pillar mounted FP gauge's have to be electric...If you get the AFPR, you can just buy a cheaper aeromotive fp gauge to sit on top of the afpr to measure the fuel pressure from there...

For the extra pillar gauge, I would go with an oil press. gauge...EGT's are expensive, so unless you can snag a gauge/probe used for a good deal, I would spend the $ elsewhere....DO NOT get an a/f seizure blinky gauge, the reason is self-explanatory; it's useless...

Water temp is also a good gauge, your stock gauge works but incase you run into hg/t-stat/radiator problems, you will really wanna know how bad you're overheating...just a thought

my car had an autometer volts gauge, but it was basically pointless up to the point where my battery died and I knew right away by the 8v reading that it was dead...
28 what? units are our friends...

If it is 28 in of Hg like most gauges then that seems high. The standard on stock cams is about 19-22 in of Hg. Does your boost gauge sit at zero when the car is off? When you decel in gear what does it go too?
when the car is at idle it sits around -27, -28. When i drive around and i shift or decel it sometimes drops to 30. not sure if this is normal because thats a lot of vacuum.
again...UNITS!
-27 apples? -28 galllons? -30 dick cheneys?

Like I said above, below -30 in of Hg is unlikely as that is less than a perfect vacuum (below 0 psi abosulte ). Either the units are not in of Hg; or the gauge is not calibrated correctly.

Does you boost gauge sit at zero with the engine off?
my bad. i hadnt been to my car so i hadnt checked. But yes i is in Hg and when the engine is off its sits at -16

That's you problem. With engine off it should sit at 0. Your gauge is busted, get a new one.
ohhhh SHIT. I was running 15 psi..............so i wonder how much i really was running. FUCK i could have fucked up some shit and i didnt even know it. LOL no wonder i was hitting fuel cut at around 14 psi. i thought that was kind of weird.
well, -16 in Hg is about 8 psi, so you may have been running 23 psi.

That is assuming you gauge was broken in a manner to produce a linear offset. There is no easy way to verify in what fashion it was failing.

Turn you boost all the way down, get a good gauge. you may have destroed your T25; check for shaft play.
I actually turned the boost down to 5 psi according to the broken gauge a few days ago because the fuel cut was driving me crazy. I already went and bought another boost gauge (AM phantom)today they said it would be in tomorow. I have a b16g so i think it might be ok but i wonder what other things i might have messed up. What should i look for?
