Got a quick question about posting

Why does everyone get pissed off when post in color like so. If there is the option to post in color than why get mad if people post in color. The thing to do there would be to just make it so that people can not post in color. What about the capital letters thing. Why does it matter if people post in all caps, of if they spell something wrong. What has the world came to when a bunch of motor heads have to be correct with their grammer, and not use color. Screw you guys, i'm going home.

Your post alone should answer your own question (at least in regards to the colro part). It's hard to read many color combinations in contrast to the ease of reading plain old black and white. Why waste your time adjusting font styles, and waste our time by making a post take longer to read? Post in black and white and keep it simple. I assume the color options are available because the website was created on a forum template which allows colors. Plus, occasionally its fun to have that option (ex: Merry Christmas ).
Now for grammer:
Noone expects a post to be perfectly typed. However, I'm so freaking sick of reading post where thoughts are so disorganized that a reader cannot even understand the point.
Please agree that you've seen tons of posts in the help section...where people post help questions..about random problems... where somebody tries to describe all of problem in 1 large, really BIG, sentence and use ... or , or < or %#^#% to break up lines instead of the basic ". " (thats right kids, two spaces after a period).
C'mon, if your going to ask us to help you figure out a problem, at least phrase it so that we can understand what the heck your talking about. Furthermore, we DSM'ers are awlays trying to gain a little respect and stand out from the ricer crowd. Reading a crappy post gives off the same impression as listening to some dumb blonde say "like, totally, whatever" 8000 times in every sentence. Write your posts like theres some grey matter between your ears. You'll be amazed how much easier people will understand and help you. Furthermore, we look smart (even if we are just a wrenchhead) You don't have to be perfect, it just courtesy!

PS: CAPS JUST SUCKS, I'M NOT YELLING OR ANGRY YET READING THIS CRAP WOULD GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT I AM. Plus, caps is also slower to read and interpret.

Some of what you're asking is just common message board etiquette, and some is to make it easier for others to read. Like high-psi-tsi said, grammar doesn't have to be perfect, but at least look like you're trying. After all, few people are willing to answer someone's question when they have to read the post six times to just understand half of what's being asked.

Everything else aside, this post has no business being in this forum. Should have been started in the lounge or somewhere else more appropriate.

Haha, you should use proper grammar... how old are you? How can we understand you if your not up to the standards? Color is for little kids... its like changing your color font on AOL Instant Messenger. Keep it clean, no one wants the color... its nothing special anyone can do it. I could understand if you were the only one who can do it and was showing off. Depending on what color you use can be hard to read so why strain your eyes and everyone else's. All caps is like saying your mad and yelling it out over the internet for example since you said it I'll say it back: "SCREW YOU". It gives it meaning and seems like your actually saying it directly at someone then it actually being in lower case. This is a Tech and Tuning forum so I have no idea why this thread has been started in here.

I have a question about posting also. Why would someone take the time and energy in asking a question like this and not even attempt to place it in the correct forum? I mean does this have anything at all to do with "General DSM Tech and Tuning"?

Remember, you are posting in a public message board, NOT your personal diary. I know for a FACT that there are alot of knowledgable people here who discriminate on what threads to reply to just by it's presentation. So in essence, you are doing a dis-service to yourself. Easy things to follow in a forum.

0. SEARCH..SEARCH..SEARCH. 99-99.5% of the time, your question has been asked before and 90% of the time, it was answered. If it wasn't, bring up the old thread rather than starting a new one. By doing so, we at least know you searched and the Search Nazis will leave you alone. FWIW, it's faster searching for 20 minutes than waiting for a few hours or days for someone to answer your query.

1. Proof read ALL your posts before hitting the "submit" button: Good grammar and good spelling...at least make the effort.

Typing words like "Tunning" instead of tuning, etc irritate alot of people. Likewise, typing in ALL CAPS, not using punctuation or not using the damn SHIFT key will land you in hot water. If you care enough to warrant your question being answered, have coherent posts.

2. Courtesy. If you're courteous, you will get more help. Stuff like bumping your thread up 2 hours after you posted it, etc... don't make you new friends.

It's a car enthusiast forum, not a teenage chat room.

Well Mike I couldn't have said it much better myself!! Congrats on reading my mind!

I believe that if you expect somebody to put any thought and professionalism into their responses then you should perform the same courtesy. A well thought out question leads people to believe that poster has genuinly tried to find their own solution; thus deserving a response.

If you want to see people talking like children in completely incoherent sentences please stick to using IRC chat.

Listen here *******. I didn't ask if i could post like that, i was asking what the hell was up your asses when someone does that, and everyone is all refering to the rule book. Yeah i don't really feel like being a member of this site of retards. The monerators are ok here. But eveyone else is a bunch of 16-18 year old bitches. So lick my balls dsmtalk.

No see i am the one that said that i don't want to be a part of this shitty site because there are so many fucking retards on here. You all might not be the tards, but at least 70 percent of people on here are a bunch of idiots.

Like Mike said, things now are quite tame compared to the old Talk. All of the idiots would be quickly weeded out, and registration was rarely open to newbies. It was a non-nonsense place to ask legitmate questions that deserved solid answers. No cluster fuck of people who do nothing but stir up shit and ask the same 15 questions over and over again.
