Got hogue grips and trijicons coming soon, here's some new pics:

I'm taking my HCP course in a couple weeks through a local range here. I have been planning on it for quite some time now, so I ordered a nice leather IWB holster from highnoonholsters.com back in April. I was just billed for it last week. The time from billing to delivery is about 3 months so I still have a while to go, I'm gonna have to get a cheapo holster for while I'm waiting. Here's a stock photo of it:

Re: gun porn

MY addition to the porn, I think size matters.

But skill is what really matters, I would take a smaller gun that knows its way around instead of a one trick pony thats just large and in charge.

LOL, not saying it's ugly, I'd just personally prefer matching black, if it was me. Is black available?
They don't do black, just natural and tan. They have black in premade holsters but the fit and finish on those ones just isn't up to par on the custom ones.

How much did you pay for your whole setup there? (minus holdster?)
Hmm never really broke it down. It's an expensive hobby so I never really wanted to... But I will now cause I'm curious as well.

G19 - 560 (OTD)
Extra mags (2 33rd, 2 15rd) - 80
Trijicons - 100 installed
Hogue Grips - 12

So just in the gun there's about 750, plus all the range ammo (I've put 1500 rounds down range in the 3 months I've had it), electronic muffs, shooting glasses, range time, targets, training, etc. I can bet in the 3 months I've had the gun I have spent somewhere near 1100 bucks.

The holster was 100 shipped, and the carry course/app will total about 200 bucks.

Damn, kinda wishing I hadn't broke that down :p It's fun though and since I don't have a DSM anymore I have the time and money for a new hobby like this. Plus, being able to defend myself and my loved ones is more important to me than the money.

One of my carry holsters:

I also use the SOB (small of the back) holster.

And this one will be my next purchase.

Ohh, and my gun pictured is my Springfield XD 4" .40.

A lil more porn:

Re: gun porn

Nice collection...

I can't see myself wearing a shoulder holster. Too 80's cop for me :p If I ever wear a holster with a nice outfit I can always use an OWB since I can open carry here.

The CTAC is an awesome holster, I tried a friends on and it was really comfortable. I am definetly going to be picking one up in the next couple weeks because my leather holster won't be here by the time my HCP is.

You have to be careful with shoulder holsters, too, because if your have your arms by your sides and pull the gun, you're going to be pointing it directly at your arm for a brief second.

For example, if your left arm is at rest by your side, you reach for the weapon with the right arm from the holster on the left side of your body your right arm will pass the weapon barrel right past your left arm as you sweep and pull aim it forward.

Hope that makes sense.

Yea, it can get expensive really quick and you've only got a 9 which is the 2nd cheapest ammo around. Try owning a 357sig pistol. :wall:

It's a little firecracker round, though... very fun.

One of my closest friends has a Sig 226 in .357 sig and is in the process of purchasing a Glock 20 which is 10mm. Two of the most expensive handgun rounds haha

I like 9mm, it's big enough to have some stopping power but small enough to keep great accuracy in it's follow up shots. Plus the price of the ammo is great, I can shoot 3x more than my friend with .357 sig in the same trip for the same price. A box of 100 WWB 9mm is 14.88 and a pack of 50 .357 sig is 18.xx. I still want to get a P22 for plinking though, can't beat 5 bucks for a brick of ammo :p

Yea, fo' sho'. Ammo prices keep going up, though. Not more than a few months ago WalMart had 100 packs of 9mm for low 14's, now it's high 15's. They've got the best ammo prices around w/out going online and ordering like 1,000 rounds at a time. I like 9mm too... but there isn't anything I've shot that I don't like :D

How do you like the grip/hand fitting of your 19? I've been throwing around the idea of getting a 23, which is exactly the same size. Or I could go cheaper and order a 22(C?) barrel for my 31C, but where's the fun in that?

Walmart's where I buy all my white box. Once I get some spending money I'm probably going to buy a couple thousand rounds offline. The walmart here has 100 wwb for 15.88 right now, at home in IL it was 14.88 (this was just last week). Regaurdless that's not that bad of a price.

I LOVE the G19. I handled 15 or so different handguns to see what I liked and this was the top of my list. I don't have huge hands so the compact frame fits me nicely, plus I will be carrying it once I get my permit so it's the perfect size for me. I plan on getting a G26 next for summer carry, but the 19 will do for this year.

Don't just do a conversion, get a whole new gun. It's more fun to have a nice collection than just a bunch of barrels :p
