HELP!! wheel making grinding noise

549 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  firestarter4206
my car is a 91 GST with a 2g tranny. when i got it the pass axle was clicking. so i went and got a new one. It took 5 tries to get it right but it ended up being a 2g FWD turbo auto axle. It was really tight. But we got it in there. Now my wheel is making a grinding noise. I think my seal it out. I jacked up the car and pushed the top of the wheel in and it moved about 2-3" the rotor also moved along with the axle. but the hub didnt move! any help. Do you think the axle could have caused this? plz i have to work monday and i have to get it fixed before then

WHEEL BEARING. You sain that you used a 2g axle in a 1g car. Did you torq the axle nut. Sounds like you need to get a 1g axle, a new wheel bearing, and torq it correctly.

it has a 2g tranny. The 1g axle wouldnt fit at all. Are the 95-96 axles longer then the 97-98? about by an inch or so? because that would help alot
thanks
TJ
it sounds like you didnt put your lower ball joint on or the axle nut isnt torqued correctly, its not a must to torque it but make sure you tighten it with a breaker bar and literally jump on it to tighten it that nut should be able to hold you up ( i saying this wieght 140lbs )
