The Grrrrr sound you are talking about, I just bought a 91 AWD from a one lady owner, she replaced the timing belt in '95 and the car only has 78k on it. My car I think has that grrr sound, it's kind of rough sounding, not too loud but noticeable, do you think my tensioner may be toast, sounds like a gas remote control car engine, the noise?? How could I test my tensioner without ripping the whole side apart? I did it on my Eclipse :( and don't want to do it again!

I know of no way to actually "test" the tensioner but if you do as I said in the other post it will be a good indication of a problem. If the belt is flopping up and down below 4K but smooths out above then it's a pretty good indication it's not maintaining tension.
