New ECU reflash for dsm?

2792 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  1loudtalon
After driving my car with 7 sending units not working properly it was determined that I need a new ECU. What are my options as far as gettin a new one? I cannot afford a stand alone Piece, they are just too expensive. I was hoping it is possible to maybe have a stock ecu tweaked or tuned to get a little more out of the car.

Since you have a 97, you need to acquire an eprom ecu from a 1995 car. Then you can swap out the chip for one from these guys. Add an AFC and a WB O2 for a little WOT tuning and your set for basic tuning. However, if you have no mods (injectors, turbo, etc) then you won't really need the ecu. An AFC alone can help you lean out a little at WOT.

I have all hard pipes before and after the turbo, a bov, and an MBC. No fuel improvements yet.

I would just look at getting a reman unit through www.foreignecurepair.com to get you up and running. When you are ready you can then use a piggyback for your fuel control or step up to something a little more expensive when money allows.
Thanks for your help!
