These here are your first two misconceptions. DSM's never end up being cheap. Just like the saying goes, "Cheap, Reliable, Fast, - Pick Two".hayabusarider said:I might buy a cheap 1992 Eagle Talon AWD TSI auto in the next couple of days and need some advice. My plans are making a CHEAP toy.
Oh yea, the cheaper the better. Thanks.

Nonsense, some super import tuner mag dyno'd an 18WHP gain from an intake.AWD_XTC said:Well i don't know how much you know about these cars or turbo cars in general but an intake will not really do much for you as it's a bit different than on a NA car. I would like to know how much you want to spend after you buy the car. That will help us help you.
2k will get you into the 13's. A 14b or Small16g would probably be crucial though. Exhaust, boost controller, at least some 450cc injectors. Those should be your basic mods.hayabusarider said:Okay how bout this. Ideally I would like it to be a mid 13sec 1/4mi car. Could I go up to a 16g turbo/fp/injectors to produce good power and times. What all is involved to go to a bigger turbo setup? Also do you need a fuel management device or can you just get it tuned by a shop to deal with the fuel cut problems? I can pick up the car for a grand and put up to 2 grand into it but I have to make a decision by Sunday night. Thanks again.
Just so we are on the same page, my 18whp comment was a joke. It was true in the mag, but silly. You will net some gain from an intake, or cai. Just not a crazy amount. Since the air would be traveling through a straight hard pipe, and not through the stock rubber accordian it will provide more air to the turbo. More air to the turbo = better running.AWD XTC said:Well I don't care what intake you put on a 1G if you are still using the 1G maf you won't get shit. Oh and we are talking about cai intakes not intake manifolds just so we are on the same page
