I searched before and thought I was ready to go, but not quite so.

I wanted to tap the sender into one of the additional holes closed off by an allen-key plug (the one on the bottom of the oil filter housing). I got the plug out, but the supplied 1/4" NPT fitting is too small (the sender itself has a 1/8" fitting, and the adapter supplied is 1/8" to 1/4").

What size fitting or reducer do I need to mount the sender in that location?

A 3/8npt to 1/8npt will work fine and they sell those at the local home depot. I've used these for years with oil lines i sell with no problems.. I suggest teflon tape or pipe dope.
