My car is a 1991 Eagle Talon Which Just went undergoing changes.
It was a 1.8 automatic and swapped a 2.0 turbo engine with manual tranny.
Starter is new and it will start sometimes, but most the time you will here the starter engaging but will not turn the engine. Starter Checked out okay. Evrything is working...Starter is New from auto parts store and is for the 2.0 turbo...Need help Please..Would be much appreciated...

When you say it is engaging you mean the motor is turning over but doesn't start? If that is the case it doesn't sound like a starter issue.

Occasionaly it will turn the engine over, but most the time all you hear is the starter bendix hitting the flywheel and NOT turning the engine over.
Starter ring gear was in good shape when you did the swap?

Yes, Starter is new and will start my friends talon. Flywheel is new and is in know good shape. Clutch new as well as tranny.
are you sure it's the right starter? ;) Check the electrical side of things as well if you havent...is there anything special about the times it does start up?
You may need to shim the starter if the gear is not lining up right with the flywheel. Also, sometimes if a starter is bad (happens on new ones too) you will hear the starter spin, but the gear does not engauge the flywheel. I would be willing to bet that if you go exchange your starter your problem will be solved.
As a matter of fact. When it does start up it make a winding noise like starter ring gear is to close to flywheel. A whiring noise if you will. Also It is correct starter. The starter as well started my friends car, Same year, but his wont start mine either...

Do you have the starter # off the 1.8 because I have one that makes loud noises when starting my 1.8 with auto. Thanks
