Hi guys Im new to your site, but I already like it better than the on Iv been on. I just bought a used 14b with 20k miles on it. Everything looks good, but there is some shaft movment. Its doesnt touch the sides or anything. I work in a machine shop, and I am going to port the exhaust side only, should this help spool up? Thanks.

I dont see why it wouldnt help spool up. Essentially, its the same as opening the exhaust path, letting the gases flow more freely. But I thought that there isnt supposed to be any wobbling on the shaft at all.

even new turbo's have a little play on the shaft side to side, meaning if you look into the compressor housing inlet at the compressor wheel, it will move a very little back and forth no more than say .01-.015, but should never come in contact with the compressor housing. now there should be no play at all back and forth from the compressor side to the turbine side....
compressor<------>turbine = no play.

just for reference, a sheet of paper is approx .004-.006 thick :D
