Ya, I was driviving around at night, and i hear a "clang" from the back of my car. Stop the car, go check it out, can't tell anything..
So I start going again, just coasting forward, nothing odd. Try putting it in drive, forward slowly, nothing odd again. Next I try slowly turning right, and my rear right wheel seems to skip, like it rolls, then peels out a little, then rolls again. Anyone else seem to have this problem before? I'm thinking rear diff or transfer case, but some tranny shop said they think it's in my transmission, and want to charge me 600 bucks just to look inside my tranny... Help me out!

Sounds like your rear diffrential gears are siezed together. Why do they think it's the transmission if it's the rear wheels that are affected. What is happening to you is the same effect as what happens when you spool the rear end and turn it into a posi.
