Tranny problem again

1150 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  4 Bang Her
My son's 91 Talon Tranny is on the blink again. No forward or reverse gears at all.I pulled codes today and readings say no codes and all should be OK.I also pulled the cooler lines and It seemed like I had Line pressure.I do not have a pressure gage to check actual pressure or what is the correct pressure reading. Before pulling the tranny does any one have any suggestions of what to look for.Oh yes I double checked all electrical connections and they seem OK.

Check fluid level with it in neutral.
Yes I checked fluid level with trans in neutral and fluid level was about half way up dipstick.
Could be converter, pump, broken seal inside, valve body, pressure control solenoid stuck open.
I have two other converters and maybe this weekend I will install one.Does anyone know what the correct pressure reading for tranny fluid is supposed to be?Also where is the pressure control sol.located?
Hey do you wanna get rid of the extra converter?

The only one I have left has the threads messed up where bolts attach to flex plate on engine.I have not gotten a chance to see if I can clean threads up yet.
I did get the car running again about a week ago.Found the internal splines in converter where wiped out and would not engage with input shaft in transmission. Why?I have no clue.I measured the splines on the two other transmissions I have and compared measurements to Transmission in car and all measured the same within a few thousands of an inch.If anyone has an idea of what happened I would be interested in knowing of what to look for.
Was the wiped splines a stock converter, or restalled?
