Transmision stuck in 1 gear

My transmision is stuck in a undriveable high gear and will not come out. The problem happend when I tryed to shift out of third gear, while i was driving. Obiously, I couldt shift out of third gear.

Things i have checked:
My shifter linkage is okay, and moves freely.

The clutch is good

Observations:
When the car is running i can try to shift into 1st - 4th, dosent change anything, And it takes alot to get the car moving (potentail of burning up clutch)

When the car is running and i try to shift into reverse I get nothing but grinding sounds and it will not go in.

When I try to put the car in reverse when its not running, It will not go.

Check your clutch fork. Peel back the boot and have a look see. The stockers can become week over time. Ive seen a few forks break in half in my day. I picked up taboos fork a while back :)

The clutch engages and disengages.

I think that if the fork were broke, that it would not be possible to engage and disengage clutch into the flywheel.

If this is not true, let me know so i can check it.
Update:

The car is able to be put in the reverse gear setting, the car still trys to go forward sluggisly.
Try to shift into 1st 2nd 3rd manualy at the trans itself. Double check and make sure you didn't break a shift cable.
It sounds like your stuck in 3rd.

Here is what i did to check and see if the cables were broke.

There are two levers on the transmison, both move in oposite planes.

The one that moves up and down moves the shifter to select
either 1&2 gear, 3&4 gear, 5 or Rev gears.

The one that moves left and right, can select the gears talked about above. It does not move as freely (eaisly moveable by hand), you can tell that you selected 1st or second or neutral, by a small click.

As part of the check, I used my hands to move each one and confirmed its position of the stick.

By proof there is no problem with the cable.

Sounds like a broken 3-4 shift fork.
dsmbuilder is right or possibly a broken roll pin that holds the 3-4 fork to the rail or maybe a whole lot of other things. My advise would be to take the tranny out and tear it down to see whats wrong. Trust me tranny work is not nearly as hard as you think it is, just like with an engine rebuild take your time and check everything 20 times before sealing it backup.

Sent it out to tranny shop, I will let you know what happend later.
If your clutch is good and all your bushings, its your tranny.
same thing my tranny did when i broke the 3-4 shift fork. stuck in third gear, can start out in 3rd but it has to be in the nuetral position. if u put it in any other gear its stuck in 2 gears and wont move.. kinda like letting out on the clutch while pressing the brakes. the shift forks are weak aluminum, if they replace them at least get evo shift forks.

thats exactly what happend to me, I got an update today.

They are replacing 1st, 2nd and third gears.
the 1-2 shift fork.
the 3-4 shift fork.
I beleivbe one of my AWDs is stuck in 3rd and its the 3/4 fork broken. It shifted great prior to, and I was wondering if anybody has had luck with fixing the fork and re assembling it, and everything working fine.

to tell you the truth, if you have the tools and parts i would go ahead and take it apart.. theres really nothing to it, but you might find more parts in there that need replacing like i did. if you put it all back together like it came apart, you shouldnt have any problems.
Yeah I kno a little about manual tranny rebuilds. About 7 years ago I had a high performance drivelines class at one of the schools I went to. However im not keeping this car and if I can get it fixed to where its perfectly driveable, thats the route im shooting for. The main thing is I dotn want to get into pressing gears off and resetting clearances and preloads etc..
yeah you should be good then, you dont have to do any of that. theres just a pin holding the fork on.
