turbo vs all motor

I was wondering what's better to build a full on all motor engine for my 97 gst eclipse or upgrade the internals and bigger turbo. What kind of horsepower could I get from a built motor as opposed to a turbod one. Which is most reliable and around what r the prices? I would love to have a built motor n/a putting out 300 or more hp and then badging it a GS he he

for the price of a 300hp all motor car you could have a 400-500whp turbo car at least
you would have to take out the 8.5 pistions and put in like 11:1 (are they even made). you would really have to do alot of work to get 300whp.

not worth it.
N/A is always more expensive for less gains. You could hit the 300whp mark with very small upgrades to a turbo car where as you would probably spend 7 grand gettign to that mark building a turbo motor into a normally aspirated motor.

Look at the 420A crowd. Look at what kind of power they are making and look how many deam it not worthwhile and do a turbo setup.
I was figuring it would be hard to hit the hp with n/a motor. I would of liked to have a all motor but I guess I will have to go the way of the turbo crowd. Thanks guys!

What made you consider the all-motor option if your car is already equipped with a turbo? Not to be a dick, but that would be the totally back asswards way of doing things. ;) Stick with the turbo, do some simple mods, be happy.
Ha, ha. 300whp on a DD. That's about the power the Honda guys have who are lightyears ahead of us on N/A development with thier sponsored pro cars.
I agree fully..... Boostless is Useless, just my 0.2 cents.

I was thinking the same thing :p

I could understand a 420a guy asking this, but the fact a 4g63t owner asked if he should throw away his turbo and spend $6000 to make 300whp on an all-motor setup instead of $2000 to make the same power with a turbo, I am sorry that is just funny

Usually I am the one saying forget the n/t-t get a turbo dsm from the start, but here I am almost obligated to tell you to get the opposite
Apparently the honda mentaliaty has migrated to other platforms... Not all engines make good hi-revving, high compression N/A motors. The hondas have a nice backing from the aftermarket to do this. It's much more cost effective to just upgrade the turbo setup for the same price you would to get 300whp out of an N/A motor.

Factory turbo car = go faster for less $$$
Factory N/A car = go faster for lots more $$$

It's really pointless to remove the low compression pistons and turbo out of a 4g63t just to have some sort of bragging rights about a "all motor" car. Especially when a regular turbo DSM with stock internals and mild upgrades will easily beat the "all motor" car in any race.
