if the parts are good then you dont need new ones, they can be reused. have you ever had the timing belt replaced. what kind of milage is on your motor?

If you're taking it apart, replace the timing parts as well. It's a tough job, but can be done if you know your basics. Like mentioned before, go to the VFAQ and print off the instructions

If the timing belt has more than 10K miles I'd replace it. Make SURE you do the balance shaft belt tho. Pesky buggers have a tendancy to ruin perfectly good timing belts when they fail. Its a tricky process, but do-able.
