What was the cause of the blown motor previously? The mods listed above really won't do much for the common causes of a blown motor.
Upgrade Opinion
I im currently waiting the arival of my newly rebuilt 1g engine for my 97 Tsi AWD. I blew my last engine and do not want this to happen again so I am going to take some precausionary measures to protect my self a little better. This is what I was thinking of getting any opinions and suggestions are welcomed. I have on it now a Walbro 255, 16g, sidemount, greddy 3" exhaust, stock injectors.
I want to get:
*APEXi S-AFC II
*24R Intercooler no perticular preference and suggestions?
*I was going to get all new guages A/F, Fuel Pressure, Boost, Oil Pressure an Brands you guys suggest I have autometer ultra lite right now.
Instead of regular A/F I was thinking AEM UEGO your opinion?
*New Blow Off Valve I was thinking about the Greddy Type RS I have a stock 1g right now.
* Lowering springs I have goldline but they are too low my car is slammed I have waiting to go in Tociko Illuminas 5-way adjustables
Any other ideas? Thanks for any help you guys can offer I would really appreciate it since I value any knowledge, opinions, and experience you can share with me.

I put a hole in my piston and bent a valve. Basically these were just mods I wanted to do and wanted to input, suggestions and advice on. Plus I thought they were good preventions to help assist me not not messing up my motor in any way weather it be the same way or different.
I have a question...you are doing the 6 bolt swap into your 2g correct? Why do you not need DSMlink to work out all the little mis-fires you might run into and other misc. issues?
As for the A/F gauge, you realize that with the Autometer's and the like those are narrowband, where as AEM UEGO is wideband (hence the name). You would be better off with that since it would give you more accurate information then an A/F would alone.

No need to swap out the 1G bov.
Any wideband is fine. Shop around for a good price and for whatever you like personally. PLX, AEM, Innovative....all are very similar.
If you already have Autometers why swap them for something else? Boost and oil pressure are the main ones I would have. I wouldn't bother with EGT or blinky a/f, or volt, etc.
If you already have DSMLink why would you have an Safc2 on your list?

I agree with Eibach if you want a nice suspension kit go with the Teins or Koni's. Also look into an injector upgrade if you are running on the 450cc still.
I still have stock injectors but this car eats gas like crazy what should I go up to with out getting 5 MPG hypathetically speaking. Also what Brand is best?
Denso and RC make really good injectors.
