My vdo boost gauge reads about -1.5 vacuum when the car is turned off. Is this normal or is my gauge off?

Four words:

"They all do that." :)

Nothing to worry about...they seem to read accurately during boost and vacuum. The VDO I used to have read that way with the car off the day I installed it. It also rattled like crazy when coming off boost slowly. I've since sold the car I had it in along with the gauge and got an Autometer "Z-Series" gauge (black face, black bezel) for my new car. After a week, no rattles and it still reads 0 with the car off. I question the accuracy of it as a vacuum gauge though. :p
