After going against gettin a Kicker S15L7 because custom ported box was gonna be over $300. I now need help picking the 2 12" subs I should get.

Right now I'm leanin towards the Evo's. Feel free to tell me any combo of subs under $400 that might be better.

from expience, the alpine type r's sound GREAT when properly broken in (10+ hours of easy listening) they have great sound quality and great bass.

I went with 2 Memphis Studio 12's. Mines are still breaking in but sound good. There like 150 a piece for the DVC's. They handle 250rms.

I strongly suggest getting 2 12" JL W3 DVC. They dont require a large box and they pound real hard. Ive had mine for about 2 years now and they are incredible. Im putting 300w per sub. Very accoustical at low volumes and dont distort at higher volumes. I know pleny of other people with kickers, rockford, JLB, audiobahn, alpine, image dynamic, MTX, ect. and they all have problems blowing the sub after a few high volume bumbs. Im not familiar with the Evo's. The JL's are very durable.

Also, I would suggest against a ported box. Sure ported boxes are louder, but they dont sound nearly as good as a closed box. Just my opinion.

You've gotta get the Alpine Type Rs, they were in The Fast and the Furious. Vin Diesal was running like four of them. Buy four and set em up just like his, then you'll be cool.


No seriously, they are all decent subs. I don't know your budget, but the Alpines are probably the best quality you listed. I have heard the MTX and I have heard the Alpine. I prefered the sound from the Alpine better. But, you're leaning towards th EVO, I've never heard the Evo.

I have 2 12'' directed audio subs DVC about 300 watts to each coil. in a bandpass . my subs hit 149.3 try them they slam.

i recommend the Type R 12"s powered by a Python Audio Directed 1100D class d amp. the subs handle 400w rms each, and have a peak of 1000w. RMS doesn't give you bass, the peak power does. As for Infiniti kappa's, they may sound good, but they aren't the quality of the Alpines. If you want real bass, try some Shocker Extremes or just plain Shockers. you will need a very powerful amp for these. Try a Nexus Lion amp. It is a 2000w digital mono amp that can run below 1 ohm stable for competitions or 1 ohm all day long

Kind of off topic but I just bought the AUDIOBAHN AW1206Q 12's. My friend recomneded them after he bought and installed them. He is only running 400 watts to each and he says they sound great. They can handle 1100 I believe and are incredibly cheap on ebay. I think they retail for 350, but I bought them for 130 each new

Why not just go with one high power 12. I had MTX blue thunders better then their new 8000's. Purchased a Rockford Fosgate 12, Wow thats all I have to say. So much louder.
