i have a question whenever you buy a set of brakes for your car whether its the front or the rear the grease that is placed inside the box of pads where the hell do that grease suppose to be applied ?

some pads come with a 'lill tube of grease
I think ECBs (or was it Raybestos?) do
Axis metal masters for example dont

of and if you dont know what the grease is for
then *maybe* you shouldn't be working on brakes w/o doing some homework

It supposed to stop squealing and called anti- squeal grease sometimes although I think its just black antiseize. I tried it on the sliders in the past and it gums up so I wouldn't anymore. It is not a smooth grease and looks like it has metal in it.
You can buy a tube of synthetic caliper pin/brake squeal grease for a couple bucks. Its clear blue and made by versa chem. It should be enough for at least 10 brake jobs. I like it
