ok well my car overheated a few weeks ago and it turned out that i made a stupid mistake and drove it when it was low on oil aswell  well i have learned my lesson. well anyways we fillied it up with oil and then it started alright then right before we turned it off the engine siezed up. what exactly should i look to do now. take the engine apart? if so what should i look for? is my engine pretty much shot? any help or opinions on what my next plans should be are greatly appreciated. money is not gonna be an issue so if i need to get a new engine then let me know if its happened to someone before. thanks for the help.

Roy

ur damn right money wouldnt be an issue, cuz u can rebuild a motor a helluva lot cheaper and buschur or shep will :D

I have 1,400 in my motor with new oil pump, pistons, and Water pump. I did all the tear down and reassembly. All the shop did was the machine work, parts clean up, and freeze plugs. Good as new and ready for another 278K

im gettin a diff vibe from diff people some say if its seized ....which it is (will not turn over at all).....then its not worth it or will be to much trouble in the future and others say ship it to get it rebuilt....im lookin to get a 95 awd shell anyways and drop a 6 bolt in but if some of u say this motor can be salvaged and actually turned into something better then im all ears. but would it be worth it to send the motor if it is seized i mean will it die on me again or will it be bullet proof (well as much as an 4g63 can be :)) even with the past problems. thanks for all the replys guys just tryin to get everything straight as to what my options are......also how much would it cost to send it to bush or shep and get it done...an average

for a completely rebuild longblock from any performance shop yr lookin around 3k and up, depending how far you really want to go. if money doesn't matter, get a turbo 6 bolt 2.3 stroker from ffwdconnection.com but then again, you'd need a lot of mods to really use it to its full potential... how far do you wanna go with yr car?

well see thats the thing the guy i got the car off of "said" it was stroked. im still in debate of wether it was or not. is there anyway to tell, only thing someone has told me was to look at the long block tag and it should say 4g64. and i have just forgotten to look each time ive worked on it i never even thought bout it. is there any other way to tell. thanks

EDIT*** im lookin to take this car pretty far not in a quick span of time but over a period ill be adding and so on.

Nope, there's no 4G64 stroker (yet). The only stroker is the standard 4G63 block with 4G64 crank - which is undetectable from the outside.
You need to take the block apart and find out what happened. If the block, crank and rods are OK, you can reuse them. If the block and rods are OK, but the crank is shot, you can throw in new 4G64 crank, have the cylinders re-honed and use new rings, but you have to make sure that engine really is a stroker to begin with. Take the engine apart and go from there...

ok guys heres the plan once we get the engine pulled were gonna see how much is reusable and what not. where would yall recomend gettin and engine rebuilt at for middle line performance not the monster engine but middle range area? well were gonna get it rebuilt once we decide were and im gonna be looking for a 95 AWD shell to put the 6 bolt in.

what do you mean by middle line? you have to remember there are people out there running 11 and 12 second quarter mile times with stock blocks. at buschurracing.com you can get a pretty much stock rebuild for $2k, and their next upgrade is only $2500, that'll give you plenty of room to play around with in yr car. you could run a pretty big turbo and even some spray if you wanted. what are your goals?

spoolin what i mean by middle of the line is basically what u described ...not a stock rebuil;d but upgraded just a little bit.

and andrew i would be much happier if thats all it was but im just lookin at worst case scenarios right now

well then if i was you, i'd get the stage 2 from buschur, and since you say money doesn't matter, get the hks 264/272 cam combo, get the head ported and polished, and put on a evo exhaust manifold. then all you need is a good size turbo and intercooler and you can go v8 huntin!
