what do you mean by get the pressure elsewhere?

The first time I had a 6bolt w/ 1g head. The car would be running fine, and all of a sudden the car would run on 3 cyl. No my 2nd 6bolt for about 2 weeks and the car is running so smooth and perfect.

just wondering if anyone is still looking at this thread. i would like to know if anyone has fixed the missfire. i have tried the pot fix and it did not work, i have tried to run a ground wire from the cas to ground as i have heard some people have fixed theirs.....no good. i am running around with my tps disconnected until i find a fix. please help!!

I was having the same ploblem with my car , then when i was flooring my car around my MHP gauge stop working, i guess it just came unconnected, but ever since it stop working i have not had the ploblem again. But it sucks i cant tell how fast im driving and it does not count the miles i drive.

mine is fixed...just poped in the DSMlink:D

what would be really cool though is if one of the Eprom chip burner guys took this misfire check out of the code..that would save us all a but load of money.

What does the dsmlink do to keep the misfire from happening? It seems to me that the POT fix is a bad idea because don't you still want to know if the engine is misfirring? I guess I am a little confused about all of this and want to get it all straight before I do the swap to my car.

I think I FINALLY got mine fixed with the 10k pot. I tried it before and it would not work for the life of me. I took it off and waited a while and decided I would try it again just for the hell of it since it's been getting worse it seems. The only things that have changed since the first time I did it are that I have my timing set correctly and i soldered to a different side post this time. I am thinking that the timing is what made it work this time, as it is not supposed to matter which side post you use. For anyone else out there that tried the potentiometer and couldn't get it to work, make sure your timing is set correctly or it may not work.

thats interesting...I know that my timing was good though, and still kept doing it:(

and no. It doesnt matter if you have the misfire check in your code. In fact it seems to only hurt our motors. Like mine for example (threw a rod). And other people Ive heard its made their head gasket blow. So its not a good thing at all.

Im going to try and get ahold of a few chip places and see if they can just remove the code from our ECU.

Hay guys, i have had a 6 bolt in my car for about 1/2 a year. i have only put about 5k miles on the swap. Everything ran just fine but every once in awhile the car would do what Jlovered posted:

"but I'm just trying to point out that there are in fact 2 different problems floating around... the one I am talking about is after the car runs the test, the car is running in some sort of limp home mode and only firing 2 cylinders until you restart the car... at which point it will run the test again sooner or later and here you are always running with only 2 cylinders, it is *quite* noticable as the whole car shakes violantly and there is very little power.."

Now it does it alot! if i quickly flick the key on/off the car will run fine for another 5-10 mins and then it will happen again! If i unplug the TPS everything is fine and the problem WILL NOT happen untill i plug the TPS in!

my scanner shows code p301 (random misfire).

So is this the random misfire problem everyone with 6-bolt swaps is talking about? the car goes into this BAD limp mode where only 1/2 the motor is firing. will the pot mod help fix the problem? any links to this mod?

Thank you!

Yes doing the pot mod will fix that ploblem. But it might start up some new ploblems for you, like the ecu leaning the car out and other stuff. I would just leave my TPS unpluged and forget about it. Thats what i do

okay, thanks for the reply. i have a wideband 02 installed so i will try to use the MAFT to compensate for the pot-mod. i'll let you guys know how it goes!
