My car is 1g. I've a 255HP fuel pump, it overrun stock FPR to 44psi. Lately I've installed an AFPR to lower the base fuel pressure to 38psi perfectly. When I shut the car off, the fuel pressure would go straight down to zero, it makes the car hard to start up. Before I change to AFPR, the stock FPR could keep it to 40psi when stop the car. I have checked everything, and nothing is leaking. Is there any problem on my 1g? Please share your experience with me. Thanks in advance.

i have this same problem w/ an Aeromotive... except mine would slowly bleed down.

IE - ten minutes after i shut the car off there'd be 30 psi left, 20 minutes and there is like 5 psi, and so on...

And I can't find ANY leaks nor smell fuel anywhere...

It's supposed to be bleed down like that. Sounds normal to me..:dunno:

Now if it drops down to zero as soon as you shut it off, you have a problem.

that sux... makes the card hard to start after it sits for a couple hours....

I've read other ppl w/ it don't have this problem/ normal function??

But oh well, guess i'll check the FP o ring and then live w/ it like i have been...

mine does this and only takes a couple cranks to start every single time. even when its freezing cold outside. i have an nuivrsal sx regulator btw.

It's a Sard AFPR. I tried to use another Sard AFPR from my brother's car, and it kept FP after shutting car off. Finally I knew I got the defective AFPR, it's an also brand new one. Thanks for everybody to reply.

your fuel pressure is not suppose to drop off after you shut the car off, or so says the shop manual. possibly the check valve in your fuel pump... i am currently having the same problem with falling fuel pressure after i shut the car of, i never had this problem with the same AFPR on my old car and i just put a new 255 in but the FP still drops. i dont know what it is

I have this 'problem'. I have an Aeromotive AFPR. I called and talked to one of their engineers, and he said it is designed to drop immediately when the car is shut off. So I wouldn't say it is a problem.

I have an aeromotive, after i shut the car down it isnt an instant drop to 0, but within 10mins itll drop to 0. And my car isnt hard to start at all, crank crank VROOM.

It should drop but not to zero right away. Should behave just like anconover's. See below The drop should be gradual to 0 in around 10 minutes or so. I'm getting mine next week so I will have first hand experience.

if i'm not mistaken there is an anti drainback valve built into the fuel pump. this allows the pump to stay primed and ready. the second you hit the starter the pump has already primed and built up enough pressure to more than start the car. the same principle applies for the drainback valve inside the oil filter. just to keep the system primed. if the drainback valve is dirty or got some crap in it then the fuel system will loose its prime.
