dsmman has his doors welded directly too the hood but he is the only one I know of that has it done that way. I think a few people have used a 1gb hood with some type of driving light behind the clear lense but I dont think it fits exactly right...

u know of the companies, cause thats another idea. i know about the motor thing, mine are sleepy rite now, but i wanna move the whole headlights, and either welded the headlight flaps down, or find another way to do it. thanks.

If you used a fiberglass hood, it would probably be easier. Then you could just fiberglass a sheet the size of the popup lights using the cover as a templete. It would probably look cleaner from below since the covers aren't as think as the hood.

I'm doing it to my spare hood right now. I went ahead and ground everything down and its going to CAD brazing this weekend. I'm having everything tig welded together... though the light cover itself is very thin, so you need to be careful with it warping up. I'm going to try and avoid this by first having a couple of strips welded a few inches in, this way when the gap is going to be welded it wont have as much tendency to warp upwards.
I've seen quite a few of these done in real life, and to me they look hacked, though thats just my opinion. Alot of guys seem to just be using fiberglass and it doesn't turn out too well, I would just like to say it CAN be done properly with fiberglass. BM tranny's orange car was the worst, there was like an inch of body filler that was all cracked and looked like dog shit.
Later/joe
