You can't convert a 7 bolt to a 6 bolt....it's a completely different block. If you want a 6 bolt block, you will have to find one out of a 90-92(i believe) 1g DSM. I am putting a 6 bolt into my 2g, because of a spun rod bearing. The names of them, like said before, are for how many bolts hold the flywheel on....check the link ^^. Good luck!

Well 6 bolt and 7 bolt engines are a little different, they say 6 bolt engines are built better, and 6bolts dont have crankwalk issues (well all motors can walk but it never really happens on a 6-bolt). The names 6-bolt and 7-bolt come from the number of bolts on the flywheel tho, but the number of bolts on the flywheel isnt the only difference (like the 1 less flywheel bolt doesnt keep it from crankwalking - its just a way to identify the motor). The site GSXtsy linked will tell you the quickest way to find out if its a 6 or 7 bolt. Since you have a 93, im pretty sure its a 7 bolt.

90-91 are 6 bolts, 92-99 are 7 bolts.

there are some 7 bolt 92s but i forgot what month they started using 7 bolts, i think its august.

6 bolts come with bigger rods and are generally used in combination with the higher compression pistons found in 95-99 7 bolts.

the stock 7 bolt block should be able to hold about 450 crank hp, 6 bolts can hold more due to the rods, but with 350 to the wheels, you shouldnt have any problems if you know how to tune it right and keep everything clean and without pings.

450 hp on the crank stock? if your going for that much you better build up the engine in my opinioin... jeeze.. thats a lot of power from a lil 2 liter.
friend of mine is putting about 400whp down on his gsx, runs low 12s, high 11s, only modification to the engine is in the cylinder head(cams). he did have a 20g and i think he went with an fp3052, but if he starts putting out much more power hel break a rod(2g 7 bolt).

um, knock? whats that, i dont hear anyone at the door? :D

450HP is considered "safe". People have ran 10's - with the bone stock 6-bolt. ;)

Ignorance is bliss. Wasn't it Strand from NABR that made something like 470 to the wheels on a stock 6-bolt?

There's been a great number of people making well over 400HP to the wheels. A fellow moderator Dsmman made around 475HP at the crank - on the stock 6-bolt. :)
