I recieved my ACT2600 clutch from slowboy racing today. And it came with the metal sleeved TOB.. So I went to mitsu and got the plastic sleeved one... When comparing the sizes.. The OEM TOB is much smaller than the ACT TOB. Has anyone else noticed this to be true before?? I just want to make sure I install the correct TOB. Will the OEM one still fit even though it is smaller than the one ACT uses???

:D Thank you for the reassurance.

actually if you just received it today then either bearign will be fine. I just looked at me nachi bearing from buschur and it is also plstic sleeved. The ACT TOB are now plastic sleeved just as the OEM ones are.

Mine looks like it is metal sleeved to me. Maybe slowboy wanted to get rid of the rest of their metal sleeved or something? What was the part number of yours?? Mine was RB210.

edged1g, are you sure it was a Nachi tob? The 2100 kits are supposed to be coming with a new plastic sleeved NSK bearing now, although the one i received a couple months ago did not. I believe all the Nachi bearings are metal-sleeved.

I wrote this in another post too but.....I had my 2600lb replaced with another 2600lb after breaking the disk and I had a metal sleeve TOB put in about a month before. Anyways asked the shop owner and mechanic if he replaced the TOB since I knew it was metal and he said it wasnt good to use with the 2600lb he said that there is more pressure on it and he has had several plastic ones break. So he said it was hard to use anything but the metal ones.

Hmm.. I'm getting my 2600 installed in 2 days.. Any opinions on this?? I have both the metal and the plastic sleeved.. The guy installing my clutch also recomended the metal one, but I went out and bought the plastic one anyways based on the reviews I read on here. Has anyone else heard good things about metal?

ya like I said never heard it until I took it to this shop (excessiveautosports.com) and he has a 530whp 1g talon and has a couple of customers with 400hp awd 2gs and he said hes seen em break and that its the only good way to install the metal ones although he didnt say that they didnt damage the input shaft so he knew they did that too but he still said its best to go metal. Im sure people have used plastic on here though and done it just fine but I like having the piece of mind :D

ACT 2600 here, with plastic sleeved TOB. No problems here,(knocking on wood) except the TOB sounds like a rattle snake when the clutch is out. TOB is new so im not worried about it. My car makes alot of funny noises, just gotta get use to them:D

Ok, how about this question.. What would you rather happen to your car...

You use metal sleeved TOB and your shaft gets all aten up and damaged..
-or-
You use the plastic sleeved TOB and it cracks.

What is worse to happen?

If the TOB cracks do you just replace it and it causes no damage??
What happens if the shaft gets damaged?

Sorry, I am totally clueless about the answers to these questions. :D

Thats the perfect question. The shaft gets eaten over time which I am willing to deal with in a couple of years were as the TOB sleeve can crack at any time according to this guy so its a matter of when you want to drop your tranny again. In my case I dont so I went with the longer affects senerio
