Just run it on pump gas, 18 psi, with a couple gallons of race gas as cheap insurance against knock.

Big thing is making sure it's all running right before you go party with it, since you don't even have the car yet.

 I know that, I won't put any 110 through her for at least a couple weeks. :)
But when the time comes ;) Basically I can up the boost as long as the knock/timing counts stay low right?

..to a point. It's still a 14B.:p Try not to go over 22psi even if you have a fmic.;)

Okay, thanks for the good answers.

One more thing though, am I safe to run in the high teens without an EGT gauge on leaded 110? I've heard that it burns hotter or something to that extent

Every car is different. An EGT gauge is never "necessary" - as long as you have some way of monitoring what's going on inside your engine. You should determine what amount of boost you can run based on your logs.

It actually "burns" slower. That's why you can run a little bit more advanced base timing. If you have an AFC lean it out to a point where the knock count is at an acceptable level with optimum timing. Verified with a logger of course.

EGT is a nice have, but not a must imho. Some peole swear by them others don't. Although it complements a logger very well.;)

I'm probably going to order a EGT soon, I'll see if I need one or not. The logger should cover me pretty well. Right now it is either a EGT or SAFC... I already ordered a new intake pipe, I should pace myself a bit

I put in 5 gallons of 110 on top of a gallon of 93 in my 93 a couple months ago.

I then subsequently ran 22 PSI through a 14B, stock sidemount, and stock exhaust.
Stock injectors, etc as well.

Ran 13.7 with it. no knock in the upper gears.

I'm assuming the trap was 100mph. You didn't lean it out enough. At 22psi with a healthy motor, the trap should be at least in the mid 100's. ;)

thats what I was thinking , too rich and not enough total timing. I was getting 17 degrees total timing.

I was just trying to be conservative and lean it out each run. But I only got two as my stock clutch burned up and I got 86'd from the track because of no helmet.

Jetdriven- I noticed that you also have a blow through MAFT, I just got my car and the prev. owner didn't tune it at all, and I really have no idea where to start with the MAFT. Could you point me in the right direction?

here's an email I sent a friend who just got a MAFT:
It takes about an hour to get the trims lined out. You first adjust the BASE knob, which controls the high trim. Run the car at 60 MPH and take note of the 02 trim, it should be around 100%. If not adjust the BASE knob until the 02 trim is around 100% at 60 MPH. If the 02 trim is consistently over or under 100% the high trim as displayed on the datalogger will move up or down to bring the 02 trim in to 100%. Then you let the car idle and adjust the IDLE knob to get the 02 trim around 100%, which will keep the low trim at about 100. the high trim takes sometimes 30 minutes to move, the idle trim will start moving in about a minute or less. MID trim rarely changes, ignore it, except note it on occasion. You want to adjust the MID knob to get good spoolup (leaner is faster spoolup) without getting knock. then you adjust the WOT knob for best performance. Stock 02 is about .94 volts you can get around .90 or so and the car will speed up. Too lean you get knock so you want it right at the edge. 02 trim and all other trims are not used in WOT mode. You know you're in WOT mode when the 02 stops cycling, it will steady out around .94-.96.
The new version 2.0 translator has RPM based WOT settings as well, 3500 and below, 3500-4500, 4500-5500 and 6000+ RPM. This will allow you to tune the car even tighter. leaning the car out is probably worth .2-.4 depending on things. Fuel system mostly. watch the IDC (duty cycle). dont go over 85% or so. At
the track on 21 PSI I was hitting 135% duty cycles. Not good. A
injector malfunction at that DC and you just melted as piston.

there is also a tuning guide and a message board for the MAFT at www.fullthrottletech.com
Everything you need to know is there. Version 2.01 is the newest. Get it.
