Ive been tryin to tune my '90 1g Talon, I have 550cc injectors and for me to get my High Trims and Low Trims around 100 I have the base set to 6 on the lean side and my Idle Knob 5 on the Rich side. Is 6 too lean for 550cc? because I get knocks during acceleration when building boost. I also have a aftermarket fuel regulator set to 43psi.
So if I lean the base out to 6 Lean does that mean my fuel regulator set too high? Also if I set the Base to 6 Lean and Idle to 5 Rich, is that the same thing is setting the Base to 1 Lean? If anyone can help me get rid of my knocks. Also I have verion 1.37 and 2.01 in the mail.

I had the same problems too. I would start out by going rich and then cutting back till you find the right spot. I would rather be rich then lean. Use your palm and look at your o2 volts and trims. Idle is the easiest mids will be the worst and Highs is the best. Just get your Idle and have it float around 100 then have fun with the rest.

the startup enrichment and RPM based WOT tuning is nice. Also, the base correction is now in 20cc increments rather than the old 50cc increments.

Enjoy!

you're right. Now the injector adjustment is about three times finer. You can adjust the high trim by 5%.

In the manual it says "Adjustment steps for base setup now in 64 steps of 10cc(injector size ratio".

So does it mean its 2% or 1% now instead of 5%?

change your injector size till you get your high trims at/around 100%

then set your idle and mid knobs for the trims....

once that is done do your wot setting

its the only way to get high trims tuned
You are way off on mid trims. Mid trim and mid knob on MAFT are two different things.
Mid knob on the MAFT adjusts part throttle enrichment, I believe around %21 throttle input. The mid value is in effect when the green light on the MAFT lights up bright.

If I get knocks when I start to boost around 180-200hz airflow and around 500+ it goes away, i need to adjust the idle knob or the base? Right now I have my base set at 560 and idle at 35%+ my HIGH and LOW is around 102. But I get knocks when I start to boost. Or does that mean I need to adjust the MID knob.

dude, the ecu takes a while to adjust mid and hi trims, don't start dicking around with those settings right away
put your lo, mid, and high knobs to zero, and lean the base a few clicks, whatever the newer version says is good, I'm still running the old version so I don't know how many clicks that will be for you.

once your are up to temp you can watch the lo trim change on the logger, the ecu will adjust it just idling. Once you get the lo trim somewhere near 100, drive around for a day or two to get the mid and high trims to set in. the ecu does not adjust mid or high trims at WOT, so a lot of part throttle acceleration and part throttle driving at slightly higher rpms is what you need to get the ecu to learn those trims

that's the only way i can get mine to work, if you adjust as soon as you see the trim change, you're bound to have problems, give it a little time before you decide how much/little to add/remove.

good luck

just drive the car and watch the 02 trim. if it is near 100 then the knobs are set close. During spoolup my 02 trim would dive to 39, so I lowered the fuel pressure and leaned the mid knob and now my trims are 100-99-103. The 02 trim is a good predictor of where the trims are going to go.

drive the car at 50 mph and watch the 02 trim, tune the base knob to get this near 100. then let the car idle and watch the 02 trim and adjust the idle knob. then watch the 02 trim during spoolup around 250-500hz andf adjust the mid knob for best spoolup, 02 trim near 100, and knock.

whats the 02 trim doing? too rich on spoolup will show knock also. I cured mine by leaning it out and getting a kyle tarry eprom mod.

looks lean. see how the 02 trim goes up right before the knock? Try richening up the mid. Raising the fuel pressure slightly might do it also.

Give me another log with HZ on it.

250-500 HZ is MID knob territory.

there is also a badass website www.fullthrottletech.com

tons of MAFT tuning there.

yes, i see it now. richen the mid knob and try thay.
