Well, it's nearly time to replace the stock exhaust in my 2G for a little more 'oomph'. I'm not into the 6" tips and the loud exhausts...

I like the sound of the stock exhaust- and also the looks of the stock twin tips..

Any suggestions / pics?

Rats...

I don;t like the grapefruit shooter / coffee can / whatever else exhaust.

I want a performance increase without sacraficing the stock look and sound!!!

HELP!

Eric

I got an ebay 3" downpipe, o2 eliminator, chopped off the flange.

Then got the 3" Bosal cat-back with dual 3.5" tips
then chopped off the flange and had an exhaust shop do a slip-fit joint to join them.

total cost - 450$

The size of the tips is actually not very obnoxious in comparison with the overall look of the car. I thought it would be and I am total anti-rice. Sounds really nice, not ricey, but is a little loud when decelerating 3000-2500 rpms.

I did a Flowmaster with a 3" inlet & 2x2.5" outlet as a muffler for a custom 3" turboback by the folks at Mufflex Performance.

Looks fairly close to stock since I didn't add fancy pants exhaust tips but rather had them weld on SS tubing with slash cuts. Looks PLAIN. Heck... it sounds pretty plain off-boost with a low growl/purr of a sound. On boost, the growl turns into a viceral low roar.

It is pretty friggin loud upon decel though... the Flowmaster's scavenging effect is very pronounced.

I'm sure there's a tad more backpressure than say a Magnaflow straight-through... I think I'm going to do that next time.

i recommend buying a universal borla muffler then go to a muffler shop and have them do a custom catback system should only cost you 350 tops. It's not as loud as other catback systems, but it sounds bad as hell.

There are 5 different threads regarding exhausts on this very page alone + hundreds of them can be found using the Search button. There's also an exhaust pictures thread in the DSM Pix section. No need to start another thread.
