I have a front clip of a JDM '91 Galant VR4 that has a second oxygen sensor after the cat. I'm not much of a DSM guy yet, but I do know only later year 3000GT's have these and they're required. I did find some threads here about the CEL being thrown, and how you can plug the hole and attach the O2 to the side of the exhaust to cure that... but these were all related to 2g's.

Anyway, my question is, on this first gen engine, will removing that O2 sensor cause a CEL to be thrown? If the CEL code is thrown, will it cause anything to actually happen, or can I just ignore it? I will be using the ECU it came with, and the engine is going in an 86 Conquest with a totally custom exhaust, so I'm trying to eliminate as much BS as I can.

Oh a side note, this is something thats hard to search for since everyone types "O2" and the search parameters must be atleast 3 characters.

Is there something in the paragraph 7 of DSMtalk rules you don't understand?
DSMtalk.com Rules (05-01-2001 until 05-01-2011)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please read these rules entirely, and if you agree to them, be sure to follow them. We enforce them.

(7) Do not "bump up" posts. This is when a user posts the word "bump" in a thread or posts solely to move a thread to the top. Instead, contact a moderator if you think the thread should be made a "sticky" (kept at the top of the forum for a while).

Actually there IS something I do not understand, and I'm not being facetious or sarcastic.

See, after 4 days my question had only 9 views and 0 replies, and it had fallen to like page 3 or 4, never to be seen again. Unfortunately I still need to find an answer to the question.

Now, if I had posted with some nonsense about "Does anyone know the answer...?" would that have been okay? Is the real problem USING the word bump itself? And if a "fluff" post had been made, and that was also against the rules, I surely could not just repost my question as a new thread, as that would break rule #6.

So you see, if my post has 0 replies by the time it falls from the main page, the probability that someone would even look at the post is significantly reduced, and there seems to be nothing I can technically do about it, as I can also not repost it,either.

Nope. People bumping up their threads with "Anyone?" don't make any sense. It's like living alone, entering an obviously empty room and yelling "Anyone here?". If the room is empty and no one's there, why would someone even ask if enyone's in there :dunno: ? If no one posted in someone's thread, no one either knows the answer or chose not to post it.
Also, it doesn't really matter if one uses "bump", "ttt", "anyone?" or whatever he chooses for the purpose to move a thread to the top. The reason for the rule is that there's plenty of tools and attention whores that will copy and paste the exact same questions on 10 different DSM boards and bump up their posts every single hour for weeks because they believe that it takes at least 10 thousand people to tell them how to change the oil or install spark plugs.

As stated in the rules, you may always contact a moderator of the particular forum you placed your thread in and ask him to make your thread a sticky until you get a sufficient answer to your question. Bumping up threads on one's own is simply being looked at as taking the matter into one's own hands.
In any case, just like cops haven't come up with speed limits and stop signs, none of the moderators have made the rules. They're here just to enforce them - just like bouncers in a strip bar. Although being public, the board is privately owned while being provided for free to anyone willing to respect and follow a few simple rules the owner established. ;)

Haha yeah, I understand that about attention whores and all that, LOL. And I've run a couple forums in my time with pretty decent traffic, so I know exactly what you mean.

Anyhow, I did find an answer anyway, over on the gvr4 forums...
looks like an EGT probe, but its stock. Seems like maybe they did that to ensure the cat was on or something, much like a second O2 on odbII. I wonder if my JDM ecu is gonna wig out when it doesn't see it. I sure hope not.
