Hey,

I have a few issues with the steering / functioning of my car, a 91 Talon 2.0 NT 5 speed.

1) Let's say I'm rolling in 1st gear at like 10 mph. If I punch the gas really quick and let off, there is a nasty clunk from the front end. I don't know what that is.

2) Let's say I'm halfway through a corner in, oh say 2nd gear. Since I'm halfway through, its time to accelerate out of the corner. So, I give it a lot of gas and the steering wheel cuts HARD to the right and makes a clunk noise. This only happens turning right.

Ideas?

Well, my front motor mount was bad, so I replaced it. I was about to go test drive it and see if the clunk was gone, but as I did I noticed that the nuts on the ball joints were on the very top of the joint itself, and I could move the nuts with my fingers...

So I got new ball joints. I'm in the middle of replacing them and having some trouble getting them out. Any tips?

Also, it feels like my front right axle is....loose or something. The tranny in this car was replaced 4 months ago (says the previous owner) so I'm curious as to what they did. I'm also missing some bolts that hold the tranny to the engine, and some that hold the shift linkage to the tranny. Anyone know those bolt sizes? (yes, off topic)

Well I finally got the balljoints replaced. I had to go get a pressing tool from Autozone, but I finally got them in. The steering problem seems to be gone, but the clunk under the hood when the gas is pushed is still present. I think I have another bad motor mount somewhere, or an axle problem. Any thoughts?:)

If the front mount (the roll stopper mount or whatever the verbage is) then usually it will take out the upper mounts fairly quick. Check and see if the rubber around the pin sleeve is torn or compressed. You may be able to pull them and windoweld them to get some life back, but a new one is always a good choice.
