GT3065 (or PF3065) vs GT35R

hi guys.
can i please ask what you guys think?

i only have a dyno of the FP3065

anybody know of one from a GT35R? .63 exhaust housing or .82 housing?

im sure u have seen the FP3065. its hard for me to get one of these in AUSTRALIA.. so im thinking of making my own with GARRETT stuff.. (t3 exhaust manifold etc etc)

anyways.. heres a dyno of the FP3065..
i would love this but price is a problem (shipping especially)

Image

fastest time is for this turbo is:
9.411@146.38 / 1.319 60ft
90 Eclipse GSX FP3065 NO NO2
Curt Brown Forced Performance, BJ's

the fastest GT35R is
9.530@153.00
97 Talon TSi GT35R YES NO2
Marco "Porn King" Passante Action Front, Magnus Motorsports

so the difference with the turbo's
GT35R are rated from 550hp - 700hp depending on the exhaust housing

the GT3065 is rated at 550hp - 600hp depending on the exhaust housing also

although the fp3065 is rated at 650hp bolt on.. based on the garrett numbers with the .82 exhaust housing it would only be a 550hp turbo..

any feedback on this turbo guys?
i would love opinions and recommendations

all im left to do is choose a turbo..

My goals:

1st priority.. street driven (not laggy.. eg. 6000rpm boost, 4500 is fine)

2nd priority.. track car (good cornering speed/ exit speed)

3rd priority.. 1/4 mile (11 secs in a vr4)

thanks guys..

Having both a fp3065 and gt35r on cars the 35r makes more power up top, 3065 obviously spools much faster. FOr all out drag the 35R is the better choice IMO for street use and no spray I would say 3065. But the 35r with a small exhaust housing is also a very capable spooling turbo. I have only had it with a .82 and 1.06 ar housing

wow
u've had both?

anyways.. when did the gt35r .82 exhaust housing start to spool?
when did it make full boost?
how much power did u make?

i wonder if a gt35r with a .63 will outflow a gt30 with a .82?
any idea's?

thanks

Not sure which to go with.
FP3065. Best of both.

IF you ever max it out, which is gonna take some doing, then you'll be one of the fastest and can say you need a bigger turbo.

The FP3065 spools quick for how big it is, it's transient boost response is instant, it's downshift boost response is instant, it will maintain full boost up top and is in full swing from a decent stutterbox launching rpm up to a raised rev limiter. I've got a FP3065 and it's been daily driven for well over a year now with zero issues or problems.

I'll say it again. Forced Performance, accept no substitute.

Actually to be honest I do prefer the 35R just because it does make more top end power. But the 3065 is mroe fun to drive on the street. And with the 1.06 ar exhaust hosing nitrous is a must.

GT3065

Compressor Side:
Compressor Housing A/R : 0.70 (4" inlet / 2.5" outlet)
Wheel Trim : 64
Model : GT40
Wheel Diam: 2.41/3.22

Turbine Side:
Compressor Flow LBS: 65lbs
Exhaust Housing A/R : 0.63
Wheel Trim : 84

THIS IS THE CLOSEST I CAN GET WITH A NON FP turbo to match the FP3065..

what do u guys think?
i've been informed that the exhaust housing on the FP3065 is pretty much a .63 .. just with the gate port and a mitsu type flange..

so this would be my best bet? to match the fp in australia?

as for the GT35 with .63 exhaust housing.. i'm also really considering this.. i mean if its too small.. just bolt on another exhaust housing..

Bazeng, how much displacement do you have (or what engine do you have?)

The compressor wheel of the FP3065 is a 56 trim wheel flowing 65 lb/min.

The exhaust wheel is a GT30. Exhaust wheels do not have any airflow measurements associated with them as far as I know so I'm not sure where your other numbers are coming from.

Are you sure about that? A GT30 wheel would flow a max of 55lb/min. I thought the FP 3065 was a GT40. :dunno:

I witnessed an FP3065 go 10.3@141 with nitrous a couple weeks ago...lets just say that I was purely amazed. If I had the money and all the supporting mods and better driving skills, i would definatly go for this bad boy

yep
well its basically what i listed..

but with a different exhaust housing..

would an MITSU 9cm exhaust housing be equivilent to a .63 garret exhaust housing?
or would it be closer to a .82?

It's not a Mitsu housing, FP has them custom cast.

yeah
but u know what i mean.. (BOLT ON PATTERN)
its designed to bolt onto a mitsu exhaust manifold

i've basically decoded the specs.. and i know which turbo i now want..

1. GT35R 550hp
2. GT30R 550hp

now only difference with these turbo's that i have in mind are

the GT35R has 56trim GT40 wheel whereas the GT30R has a 64trim GT40wheel... besides that the exhaust housing for the gt30R will be a .82 whereas the GT35R will be a .63.. and obviously the gt30R has a slightly smaller turbine 2.16/2.36
vs the GT35's 2.45/2.68.

now my question.. they are pretty much matched to give 550hp (same as fp3065 in a full garrett form) but we all know hp ratings are not 100% on the dot.. so all im asking is what would give better response?

a turbo with a smaller exhaust housing, a bigger turbine and a 56 trim wheel

or

or a turbo with a larger exhaust housing with a smaller turbine and a 64 trim wheel?..

its getting confusing i know.. but im just wondernig if anybody has any idea of what to expect..

i believe the GT30R combo that i have is pretty much the same as the FP3065 with a greater flowing exhaust housing... i could go the .63 exhaust housing and that would pretty much match the FP3065 (as i've been told by the guys themselves)

i know with the 35r i can upgrade if its not enough (to .82 from a .63) but with the 30 option. im probably at its peak for my engine unless i go 1.06 and some n20 to start it spooling..

I don't understand why you just can't call up Forced Perf and order one. Can't they just address it to the land down under or what? It seems simple to me. Pay the shipping.
The Forced Performance custom turbine housing is the exhaust housing to have for more than one reason.

it will basically cost me 3000AUD.. my mate brought one down.. had to pay lots of money to get it through customs!

i can get a GT30/35 for 2000AUD here.. any spec..

1000AUD is alot of cash for the same turbo..
plus warranty / and problems etc etc..

i already have a turbonetics manifold..
