i'm getting a rattle/knock sound coming from under the hood while accelerating.car has no sound at idle, but when i accelerate at around 3krpm i hear it.i check under the hood and it sounds like its coming from the motor.the car still runs strong but???

Does it sound like a valve tapping?

It could be that a balance shaft bearing has found a new home in your oil pan. Once the bearing has spun out, the balance shaft will bounce around and make knocking noises at higher rpm levels. It's almost undetectable at idle.

If the problem is the balance shaft bearing, the intake side is the cause. You will have to install a balance shaft eliminator kit to fix the problem.

Also, once the engine revs above 3k, it sounds like someone sticking a baseball card into a house fan set on high. You will also hear a slight knock as the balance shaft hits the side of the block.

Note: Drain your oil and check for golden metal particles, this is a good sign of the spun bearing.
