I've seen a few members on various forums with a NT DSM that have a larger, aftermarket throttle body. I've looked at places like Slowboy Racing, Andy's Auto Sport, and God only knows how many other places looking for one of these, but can't find one anywhere!

Can someone point me in the direction of a bigger, reliable throttle body? And speaking of which, how much hp can you expect to gain from one? Are they worth the money?

You have a few choices.

Extreme Motorsports will take your factory TB and enlarge it to 75mm for around $275

You can buy a Mustang TB off Ebay or several other places, but I would suggest getting a good brand like Accufab. People have had problems with the throttle shafts breaking in some brands. I believe some caes were related to poor quality and/or to much tension on the BOV. Do a search to confirm others opinions.

In the case of the Mustang TB the factory intake will need some modification requiring welding or you can get a sheetmetal intake flanged for one. The first option only requires some porting of the factory intake, so that part of the cost has to be taken into consideration as well. If you plan to get a sheetmetal intake anyways, it would be the best and most cost effective time to upgrade the TB.

$275 sounds reasonable enough.....do you have a URL to the website?

And my car is NT btw, so no BOV tension problems. Probably won't even turbo the car, it's just a daily driver.

Nevermind, found the site but haven't found where it says you can send them the TB..........?

Speaking of more airflow, is it safe to do a header, cat-back exhaust, hi-flow cat, CAI, and larger throttle body without doing some kind of fuel upgrade? Will this make the A/F ratio unbalanced?

is this for a 1g or a 2g? if its for a 2gnt, check out modernperformance.com. They got 60mm tb for sale. I also read of people using jeep tb's, but i don't know whats involved with that, got to search on that.

Most of the 2GNT forum uses the Modern Performance TB as an upgrade. It really doesn't help unless you have other upgrades that require it though.

You will get reduced torque if you put it on an otherwise stock engine.

So accompany the upgrade with a header in addition to your list, and the Crower cams if you want to reap the benefit.

if your worried about breathing mods unbalancing your a/f ratio then get an S-AFC 2. i have cai, header, catback exhaust and s-afc 2. theyre about 350 just for the afc and you will have to get it tuned. that's what i did and it was 350 well worth it!

?????
$240 shipped on ebay, S-AFCII brand spankin' new. ;)
$110 you could have spent on other stuff... priceless. :D
Shop around ppl. It pays.

What engine is this? 4g63? 4g64? 420A? Cams for sure, will need a chip or SAFC if you mess with the TB. some sort of external tuning, Wideband o2 is a good investment...

The ESI's got the wonderful "neon" powerplant. The world renowned 420a.
So did the eclipse RS GS 95-99
Dodge Avenger 4 cyl
and the neon R/T 95-99
Which for the neon was a "performance" engine.
The base model neons came with a SOHC variant.

yea i got my 60mm throttle body from modern performance, it looks good and has 2 different throttle linkage settings which you just move the linkage to one or the other holes for the cable. i havent got my car back with it on there yet but hope it helps but i have the whole engine done so who knows but thats where you can get a throttle body from.

True,, $110.00 savings, get non english instructions, and no questions answered while trying to hook it up and no tech help when it comes to tuning...

actually its only a 60.00 savings b/c no one sells the AFC II for 350.00

heck of a savings there unless you are the avid out of garage installer that has put a few in already

wow talk about sending someone in the wrong direction.

you have a 420a motor, yes modernperformance makes a 60mm tb but you dont need it if you are using your car as a daily driver and have few mods dony get anything bigger than 57mm you can take your stock TB to any machine shop or check out conceptillsions.com. they will port it for you but you have to send it to them and it takes a couple weeks.

you wont really see any noticable gains for porting just the TB so if you want to see a diff i would suggest getting the intake mani ported to.

also if you want some good cams for your 420 i saw some on slowboy racing that looked pretty good.

they where new and cost like 550 but they sound like they will really make a diff but i have not bought them yet so i can not garuntee anything.
