Alamo Motorsports sells the HKS SSBOV kit for $243. First of all, it does really say whats in the kit. Does it mean that it comes with the hardware to mount it to the stock plumbing? Also, is $243 a decent price for that BOV and kit? I know how how everyone says HK$ but I am going for quality more than anything. And from what I hear its pretty much a maintenance free BOV because it is a pull-type.

I ordered my ssbov kit from nopi for $229. It fits the stock uper i/c pipe. Even on the loosest settings, I still had compressor surge, unless I ran up the boost all of the way and let off of the throttle VERY quickly. You have to mess with a snap ring for the install. This was a MAJOR pain in the ass! I took it to a local shop and they used two guys and a vice. They said it takes almost half of an hour to get the valve out of that flange. I didn't get the re circ kit so my car ran way too rich. I took the part off of the car and ordered a new upper pipe and a modded first gen bov for $200 bucks. No compressor surge and more power with the new pipe. Don't repeat my mistake. The valve sounds awesome but it's not worth it in my book!

I have the SSBOV and found no problems like the ones NJC had.The only problem was with the recirculation kit.I have a Greddy 18G w/ the aluminum intake pipe. The OD(outside diameter) on the recirculation kit was way smaller than the OD on the Greddy intake pipe. There was no way the hose would have stayed on.Fortunately I work at a CNC shop and I made one to my specs.

Which upper pipe are you using? Is it custom or from a tuner shop?

It's a HRC upper I/C with an HKS flange.HKS SSQBOV.
I wasn't having problems with the I/C pipe but with the connection of the recirculation kit from the HKS SSQBOV to the Greddy intake pipe.
Here's a picture of the HKS recirculation adapter next to the Greddy recirculation pipe.Notice how bigger the Greddy pipe is compared to the HKS adapter.

Now here's a pic of the BOV with my home-made adapter next to the Greddy pipe.Pretty close.

Yeah I see that difference. So you just got an hks flange welded on or is there an easy fit adapter for the BOV to fit on the HRC pipe. I am interested in using the HKS SS BOV, but it seems like a P.I.T.A. How do you like the performance of the valve overall? Sound is at the bottem of my decision process....is it fast? Comp. surge? Leave me know. Thanks

It works fairly well.No compressor surge. The HRC pipe I bought off of a friend and had it powdercoated. It already had the HKS flange on.I've heard good things about TurboXs compressor bypass valve and might try it in the future.

Turbo XS

Yeah I have been hearing good things about that valve also. HK$ and Greddy's still get the mixed review. Some love it some hate it. Maybe I'll get the Turbo XS set up. I'll post results if I go that route. Thanks for your info.
