I know there are a ton of threads about this...seems like the sending unit is located in a bad place.. anyway just for reassurance.

My oil light is flickering at idle, the pressure gauge is reading normal levels of pressure and the engine has the correct amount of oil. The flickering could be caused be a bad connection, correct? If my pressure gauge is reading normal then my pump is still working correctly?

Next question, I have a autometer electric oil pressure gauge. Which sending unit should I replace with the autometer sending unit if I choose to use the gauge? Does the ECU read any of the sending unit to check oil pressure? I have had cars that cut fuel is they sense low oil pressure.

One more thing. I just did a timing belt, I had the oil pump aligned according to the FAQs....but what would happen if the pump was off 180 degrees?

And...I did an oil change, I did notice that the Napa (wix) filter was longer than the one on it. So maybe that has something to do with it?

My oil light did flicker at some times, but for totally another reason. My isc was on its way out and everytime I would come down to a stop, the oil light would flicker. At first, I didn't know why it would do something like that. The car was running fine. But later I understood why. Since the isc was randomly working, it had trouble keeping up the idle above 700 rpm; = low oil pressure! But since my car always had a rough idle, it never caught my attention then. Until the day it just refused to idle at all! :D

I don't know about the other questions but a new sensor is $5. It has a one wire connection. They do get dirty, it is only a pinhole they read through. Always be cautious though when you see the light, the sensor is set at 5psi.
I was freaked out about 3+ years ago.

My oil return line is leaking oil which is dripping oil right onto the sender. If enough oil gets on it, the light starts to flicker at idle. If I clean it all of it'll stop coming on until oil coats it again.

I don't see this making a difference. But you would know if it did. My pressure is low always except cruise. Never see a light, but it's almost on the line for low. Has been this way for a while, upon inspection I found the terminal for the oil sender to be corroded.

ok im haveing the low oil pressure light at idle also, but my manual gauge the one thats hooked to my housing shows 12-14 psi so should i ignor it?

My oil light kinda flickers when im crusing in 5th, but the dipstick shows full and the oil gage shows the correct PSI. im not to worried about it...

turns out my car is doing the same thing as stated above. i believe the ISC is going bad because my idle is around 700 as well. After driving on the interstate and parking the car the Low oild pressuer light came on. I shut the car off for a few mins and then started it again and the light did not come on. So there might be a connection bethween the ISC and oil pump sending unit.
