Hi Dsmers,

I have a quick question on how to tighten those 6 -AN fuel line connection. ( I bought the autoalchemy fuel line). I did some research that I should not use any teflon pipe joint or tape on those 37 degree 6 -AN fitting because the 37 degree connection will seal this correctly with no leaks.

Am I right? how much torque should I put onto the fitting nuts ? hand tight?

Thanks,

Andrew

I have never used teflon tape/sealant on any AN fittings, i have them on my fpr and oil cooler and they dont leak.

yep, just make sure they are nice and tight......use either an AN fitting wrench, or electrical tape wrapped a couple of times around the fitting and the appropriatly sized wrench....no teflon tape required. i just used a little 3 in 1 oil to make the fittings go together a little easier.

Sounds good to me. But I think with teflon sealant like other people say in here may nott hurt and give extra protection (toward leaks). Is it bad to give this extra protection then? or it actually screws things up?

Thanks,
Andrew

the only problem with the teflon sealant is this.....if you get even the slightest bit too much, and it runs off of the threads and into the line, you can have MAJOR problems, because it will form a kind of hard gelatenous substance that can reak havoc on what ever system it is being used in......i am running nothing on my fittings on my fuel system and even at 50 psi, i have NO LEAKS.........

DON'T use any Teflon paste or thread on AN fittings as suggested. That's the beauty of them. You only use the afforementioned stuff on NPT connections. Just tighten the AN fittings by hand. Kinda hard to explain in writing but they don't need alot of torque to seal properly. ;)

Dont use teflon tape. The whole point of the AN fittings is so the 37 deg. flare can do its thing and seal up the connection. Teflon tape will just add more possible debris to get into your lines
