Hey guys... we just finished putting a turbo kit on a 420a here at the shop, and just wanted to share some pics. I will get some updated pics later this afternoon of the completed kit.

The turbo kit fit pretty well, but we did need to trim a bit of the exhaust manifold, and tweek some other things here and there, but overall it fit well. It's a T25 turbo. If you guys have any questions, please ask!

Enjoy!

Looks good. How do those motors handle daily driving on a set up such as that one? Is the 420a motor, minus the bottoming out head stud thing, a stout motor?
Same as the 4G's. I have both cars (GSX and GS)

The stock internals are very weak. You can't boost above 10psi without breaking something.

With a quick rebuild (forged internals) they can easily handle it.. What the heck is "bottoming out head stud thing"?

From my understanding, or so Ive been told, the right rear threads for the head bolt wasnt tapped or drilled deep enough to comletely torque down the stud with out it bottoming out. The fix is to put a washer or two on that bolt to avoid bottoming the bolt out. Once the head bolt is shimmed, you can apply the proper amount of torque. Thus sealing the HG with the head and the block.

Why all the work for a T25?
We do as our customers request :)

However... for someone not looking to break the horsepower records, and wants something that spools quick, will only run about 7-8psi, and wants something affordable this is a pretty good solution. This customer is more into show and street fun.

Thanks for the comments guys!

What would be a better choice when only running around 7 psi?

Looks good and good job! I bet that put a big grin on his face when he saw the final product.

how do you guys feel about an eclipse with a evo 4 motor in it sound like a good idea or should i buy a bolt on turbo for my 420. i never wanted to buy an eclipse unless i could get a turbo model but things happen and i had to settle. for the most part i am happy with my car but ever since i started coming here and seeing how every one trashes the 420's non stop i really wanna get something done about it. i live in philly and i know of a shop that does JDM engine swaps and it would cost less to put an evo4 motor in my car than to do a bolt on and its more powerfull not to mention that i can drop like another 1000 bucks and have the car converted to AWD just let me know what you think

You really believe you can turn you car into a Evo4 powered GSX for less then the cost of a 420A turbo kit + 1000? So basically ~$3000?

yes i have already spoken to the shop to start i am sorry i said evo4 i meant evo3 but they quoted me at 2800 for the fully dressed up engine transmission ecu etc.... and intall and then for the AWD part they told me that i can attach the drive train from a first gen turbo dsm it will work just fine with the evo3 trans so that should'nt be any more than like 1000 give or take a couple hundred for the parts and install so intotal i am looking at like around 4000 which i guess would be about the same or maybe alittle more than a bolt on turbo kit. how much does an install for a bolt on kit typically cost?

almost forgot what bolt on kit do you know of for 2000 i have never seen them for any less than 2500 without install so again yes if i choose to not turn it into an AWD and just buy the engine, ecu, and what not it would cost me like 2500 for the swap thats parts and install.

the evo3 motor is like 248 horses and it comes stock with a 16g turbo running low psi of course so all i have to do is throw on the usual bolt ons
drop in a boost controller and i will have one bad ass eclipse
