well i was calmly driving home from a doctors appointment, and BAM ... my engine check light comes on.. this is my first car so im not sure of the possiblities of why.. but one things i do know there is a LOT of smoke but the only reason for that is my stupid engine cap came off (AGAIN!! this is the like 50th time) i guess if i fill up on oil and replace my dipstick this shouldnt happen again, or do you guys think there could be another problem? maybe my car is running high oil pressure ors omething? if you have any comments, give em all thanks...
 
Bring the car to autozone/kragen and have them read the code. It could be a hundred things, from very serious to something you can ignore. While you're there get a new oil cap gasket (if that what's leaking, or is it your dipstick?). If it is the dipstick look at this from www.vfaq.com:

Dipstick popping out - happens due to crankcase pressure pushing the dipstick up:

* A good running motor will blow out a dip stick with a shriveled hard rubber seal
* A dead motor (lots of blow by, busted pistons) will blow out a good dipstick
* A 1/2 dead motor will blow out a 1/2 dead dip stick

Depending on the actual cause and the severity, the fixes can be:

* A spring/wire to hold the dipstick down
* Pinch the tube at the top a bit
* Get a new dipstick
* A full engine rebuild or new pistons

If it blows out under boost with a glowing red turbo and manifold, it makes a nice engine fire. If it happens even once, figure out the cause and fix it.

(not a car guy so i dont understand too much)
but i am going to autozone so they can give my car the check up i really hope nothing serious is wrong :/ i will say more info when im back,

j/w... do youthink those free mods may did something? because my idle is horrible from those free mods i did :/ im going to stick back in one of the honey combs in my air filter like.. right now
 
I'm guessing you're talking about the cap on the valve cover. I had a problem with mine a bunch. It kept leaking and coming loose and I couldn't figure it out. I talked to a guy I know, and he said just to double up the gasket seal underneath. I did that and haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps!!
 
Just get a new valve cover cap. They are cheap. Order one from Josh at JNZtuning.

About the CEL, a place like autozone or whatever can tell you what the code is, but they can't always tell you why it set the code, so they might sell you a part you don't need. Take it to a dealer so they can at least check her out good.

Some of the free mods aren't all that great.

ok all the free mods fucked up my car.. >.> the MAF sensor is messed up and the idle is messed up, and those counter each other since i took out the "honey combs" or w/e the MAF senor and idle were weird, then i changed my idle up higher, and now my engine light comes on for both... if anybody can help me out in what i should do, thanks my fuel injectors came up in the same code as in one of my "CEL" light, this is pretty frusturating... well if you guys have a say, then say and BTW when i said about my oil, it was my dipstick not my cap, my cap is fine

i think i solved one of my problems... for the MAF hack thing or w/e i have a 2g gsx so am i suppose to take out the "honey comb" things... or is that only in the 1g? if so.. how much should i take out because i took a lot out.. and now it happens i bent them too much to put them back in.. i took out the three smaller ones and left the big one, and now i left the big one and put the middle bottom small one back in? put more in? or its good now? or should i just try and put them alll back in?
---this is only a small part of my problems respond when u can thanks
