I bought a 98 GST 5 speed 114k miles last week.. bone stock to the paper filter.. 1 owner and it seems to have been well maintained.. This is going to be my daily driver, however, I would want to do a few mods to make it a little more fun. Would the mods below keep my car "reliable" taken I dont dog on it all the time and do the regular maintenance:

Intake, exhaust, upper ic pipes, 1g bov, short throw shifter, mbc to up the boost (on occasions). I dont plan on jumping to any kind of bigger turbo for a while. I'm also getting a aftermarket boost gauge

i agree...dont need the short throw

He's not asking on what he needs to make his car faster.. he's asking for mods that will maintain good reliability. A short throw won't hurt at all. Those mods sound good and will make the car noticably quicker, plus it sounds like you really do want to maintain it well (keep the boost under 15psi, the T-25 won't do much past that). One thing to watch out for though, even with those mods and a few harder runs, the stock clutch won't want to hold for much longer so look into an ACT 2100 or even a Centerforce Dual-Friction (CFD-F's haven't had great reviews, but for a daily driver and staying away from the track it should work just fine).

thank you! lol you understood what i was saying.. I might go to the track once but I'll let the ET suffer rather than to launch the car hard and speed shift. If I get intake/exhaust and keep the boost at stock psi, would the clutch hold much longer?? Oh ya.. what is stock boost set at on a T-25? I plan to also dyno the car in the near future.

I would stick with the ACT clutch. I blew a center force to pieces and I am FWD with light mods. It was a 2900 with an unsprung organic disk. I now have greatly enjoyed my ACT 2600.

It's hard to tell how long the stock clutch would last unless you knew the condition that it's in right now (if it's been beaten by a previous owner). With careful driving and take-off's (drive it like it's a Geo Metro) it won't matter what clutch you have, it's beating on it that'll do it in. Stock boost on a 2g *should* be in the area of 13-14psi but the stock blowoff valve leaks around 12psi. If you get a 1g BOV on there you'll notice 1 or 2 extra psi. Another thing you should be looking into is the condition of your T-25 right now.. it might be on the iffy side right now and messing with boost could send it over the edge. Check for shaft play and for any smoke between shifts or at boost. T-28's are a good upgrade for the T-25 that won't need an install kit like 14b/16g's, it'll give you a better pull and top end.

Yikes, that's a tranny killer on a FWD. ACT's have been proven, but if you're strapped on cash, are going to stay away from the tracks and want something better than the stock clutch, a CFD-F should suffice.

If you want to go the cheap route, and maintain some reliability:

$100 - 14b turbo
$60 - walbro 190 fuel pump
$30 - 1g bov
$300 - ACT 2100
$250 - custom 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust from exhaust shop, cat delete
$80 - megan racing downpipe
$30 - MBC

$850 total in mods and you should have a fun car. give a take a few dollars. do all you maintenance.... timing belt, bs belt, timing tensioner, accessory belts, fluid changes, etc. you will have a fun car you can enjoy.
