i just did a search on this because i havent been able to get my car to run right ever since i got it back from the shop and found out a few things that i need a little explaining after i searched. i believe the shop that did my6 bolt swap to my 2g head (99 gsx) put a 90 cas in the car. now is this right or do you need a 93-94 cas as i read while searching around??? the car is misfiring like crazy and the timing is way off. if that is true, how do i fix this problem. i can tune with greddy emanage ultimate and log everything so i know what is going on. that is how i know the timing is way off. but i was reading somewhere about misfiring and the timing being off, and i keep pulling a cell of injector circuit-cylinder 1. thanks for the help.

The black top cas does seem to work better on most cars but there are quite a few guys who have not had any missfire problems with the older green top cas.
The ignition timing needs to be set at 5* base advance. Take the car back to the shop, it shouldn't run like poop.

is that timing the stock timing???? i believe he said he set it at stock spec. i will call him later today.

I have the black top CAS in my talon with my 6bolt and it still misfires at a consistent rpm but when i am acceling it isnt there. Have you tried the potientiometer thing from magnusmotorsports.com, i did it and it didn't work, but my timing was off when i attempted it. Now my timing is right so i am going to try it again. Has DSMLINK been proven to eliminate this misfire??

i havent tried it yet because my car idles like crap and doesnt run that well, its going back to the shop next wednesday to put a black top in it. my timing was shit as well so i wouldnt know. dsmlink wouldnt work in my car at all with the problem i am having, couldnt even pull a cel at all, but i put my stock ecu back in and its all worky again. so i dont nkow.

The best thing is to set your timing and double check your wiring...

If you have a 95-96 car then use RRE's signal inverter method, it works great.

If you have a 97-99 car then use the direct wire method.

Make sure your spark plugs are all going to the right places. Even with timing set at +2 deg the car ran fine, but can't hurt.
