GOOD CAMS? d-e or d-c?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi, pulled some cams out of a 93 4g63 eclipse. i heard the 93 d and c cams are the best. well mine are d and e cams. how are thoes? d is the best and e is the worst right? so what if i used the d cam with my 2g stock exhaust cam, or do i have it all wrong?

There's only a slight difference between the e's and c's. I wouldn't say e's are the worst...they're .0114" less lift than the c's and better than other dsm cams.

In comparison, the 2g exhaust cam opens .0272 less than the c's or d's, and .0158 less than the e's.

I don't think it's a good idea to pull in a lot of air using the 1g intake and use the 2g exhaust and not have anywhere for that air to go.

Hey guys, I have a question on that. Which letters are the actual designation? I have two sets of letters, one of them being larger and having some dots in a chess pattern to the right of the letter and the other one smaller. Also, the large one is stamped perpendicular to the axis of a cam and looks straight from the front of the car and the other is 90 degrees to it.

All that description sounds aqward but I don't have any pics of them. Is there any site for this? I searched and couldn't find anything. RRE was out of idea as well when I brought the cam to them. Thanks.

I swear, you newbs.....

"ok i just got my engine out doing a ton of other stuff... pulled the valve cover off the bass (the one with the mystery head and cams) and pulled the exhaust cam out of its original head (july 91)

i grabbed my trusty Micrometer, and started measuring lobe height. here are the results:

july 92 exhaust cam height: 1.3950

mystery exhasut cam height: 1.3840

...so i decided to check the haynes manual.. these are the numbers for the supposed 93+ 1g's

both non turbo and turbo auto have standard heights of 1.3858..

turbo manuals have a height of 1.3874

aparently all 2.0's from 90-92 where supposed to be 1.3858

of course this isnt right exactly but it sounds like 92 model year cars (1gb's) have the largest of the cams, 93 actually get smaller??? THIS IS ACORDING TO THE HAYNES MANUAL!!!

so i consulted the all powerful mitsubishi backup disc...

they dont specify years, only 1g or 2g with cam stamps..

the staps go as follows:

A: 1.3858
B: 1.3972
E,F: 1.3744

under the 2g (95-96) list it specifies the ex cam to be an E or F.. or in other words smaller than all the rest...

feel free to look around tha manuals yourself but thats what i found... so from what i can see out of these choices... get the B stamped cam which comes in the Julyish 91 build dates???

i throwing the B cam in tonight.. all let ya know how it feels.." oh yeah...

and it felt great

I appreciate the help but

Did you read my post? I have a trouble with the identification not the specs. My cams have 2 (TWO) sets of letters and I 'm not sure which ones are to count on. What the lift is on A or C and that the '93 exh. is the best I do know. Thanks.
