i have a greddy type s on my talon and i wanted to know do i need the tube that connects from the intake pipe to the blow off valve.... can i just block off the hoe in the intake pipe ?? is this safe to run open blow off valve .. ?? thanks

You should always recirculate your bov unless your running a gm mas and a maf translator. Venting may cause poor idle and other negative effects on the cars performance. I would recommend connecting the return tube.

I agree with this statement 100% You need the tube to ricirc your bov or your car will run like crap. There are hundereds of threads on this topic just use the search button. This is a subject that has been beaten into the ground on countless ocasions.

Or a VPC setup! I agree with both above me, the negative effects outweigh getting the louder BOV sound. Do you care more about how the car sounds or how the car runs?

my car still idles fine when the blow off valve line is dissconnected .. with it on i cant even hear it .. it seems like there was no point in even buying it then ... my brother had a turboed crx with the blow off open and it didnt effect anything ..

Your 'important' topic has been discussed by newbies every single week. If you think I'm lying, use that nice Search button and type in venting to atmosphere. You've gotten a few pieces of advice from a couple knowledgable DSMers and one saying 'my car ran fine.' Your engine might be knocking like a bitch right now for whatever reason and you may not know it.. is that saying your car is running fine? Without hooking up a logger or any other device to actually SEE how the car is running, you don't know if your car is fine or not. You ARE running rich between shifts right now whether or not it feels like it.

Put the frickin' recirculation tube back on, please. End of topic.

is there any way to do it in a way where i still hear my blow off valve ... i hate to think i wasted 200 dollars buying one ... because with the tube on i dont really hear it at all
SEARCH. It's that simple.

Also, you could read what the first and third responses to this very thread said.

you didnt waste $200, are you saying that you spent $200 for sound? you spent $200 to hold more boost

wasent asking for a smart remark i was asking for advice .. thanks for taking your time to log in and say that though .. shows me how importtant my topic is

Vfaq is your friend. Venting makes your bov louder, thats about it, ofther than that, it makes your car run rich, due to the fact that the air that is suppose to be metered is being thrown into the atmosphere and not back into the intake. With that said, I do vent my bov, I love the sound, but im running a blow through maf setup.

When you buy more mods, such as, intake, hard piping etc.... you will start to hear your bov, my 1g bov recirc. was as loud as my type s vented.

is the only downfall running rich ?? or is there other issues .. i ran it open today all day and i ran out only a tiny bit faster than ususal .. is that the only consequence .. thank ??
1. Rough idle in some cases depending on which BOV.

2. Running rich between shifts.

3. Stalling when coming to a stop after boosting.

4. Poor fuel economy, money which could have gone to making the car faster.

5. Loosing the recirculated air which helps greatly in keeping your turbo spooled in between shifts.

6. Heavy carbon build up.

7. Since it's image you care so much about, maybe this one will change your mind. You lose respect of your fellow serious DSMers because you seem immature (about modding a car) and ricy, aka a wanna be, if the sound of your BOV is your number one concern. :D
